How to knit Cable Stitch:
Work with a multiple of 4 stitches + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 18 stitches (4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.
The chart shows only Right Side rows.
On Wrong Side rows, purl all stitches.
The pattern repeat = 4 stitches wide.
Abbreviation:
k: Knit
C4F: slip 2 stitches to cable needle, hold to front, K2, K2 from cable needle
Written Instructions:
Rows 1 and 3 (right side): Knit.
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): Purl.
Row 5: edge stitch, * C4F *; repeat from * to *; edge stitch.
Rows 7 and 9: Knit.
Row 11: edge stitch, k2, * C4F *; repeat from * to *; k2, edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 1-12 throughout.
