Checker Stitch Knitting Pattern
How to knit Checker Stitch:
Work with a multiple of 8 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 19 stitches (8 + 8 + 1 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to сhart.
The chart shows Right Side rows and Wrong Side rows.
The numbers at right edge of chart indicate Right Side rows, and at left edge Wrong Side rows.
Read Right Side rows from right to left, Wrong Side rows from left to right.
The pattern repeat = 8 stitches wide.
Abbreviation:
k: Knit
p: Purl
yo: Yarn Over
k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as one
skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch 
Written Instructions:
Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, * k1, yo, skpo, k3, k2tog, yo *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge stitch.
Row 2 (wrong side): Purl.
Row 3: edge stitch, * k2, yo, k2tog, k1, skpo, yo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge stitch.
Rows 4 and 6: edge stitch, k1, * k2, p3, k3 *; repeat from * to *; end with edge stitch.
Row 5: edge stitch, * p3, k3, p2 *; repeat from * to *; end with p1, edge stitch.
Row 7: edge stitch, * k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, skpo, k1 *; repeat from * to *; end with k1, edge stitch.
Row 8: Purl.
