Checker Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Checker Stitch:

Multiple of 4 + 1 + 2 edge sts.

Cast on 15 sts (3 + 4 + 4 + 2 + 2 edge sts) and work according to сhart.

The chart shows only RS rows.

On WS rows, work sts as they appear; work yo’s P.

The pat rep = 4 sts wide.

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together

skpo: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch

cdd (Central Double Decrease): slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch

Rows 1 and 3: edge st, k1, p2, * p1, k1, p2, repeat from * to last 3 sts, p1, k1, edge st.

Row 5: edge st, skpo, yo, k1, * yo, cdd, yo, k1, repeat from * to last 3 sts, yo, k2tog, edge st.

Rows 7 and 9: edge st, p1, * p1, k1, p2, repeat from *, edge st.

Row 11: edge st, k1, * yo, cdd, yo, k1, repeat from *, edge st.

Repeat rows 1-12 throughout.
