Aran Combination Knitting Pattern

Cast on 44 stitches (42 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.

The chart shows Right Side rows and 2 Wrong Side Rows.

The numbers at right edge of chart indicate Right Side rows, and at left edge Wrong Side rows.

On Wrong Side rows (not shown), work stitches as they appear or as given in instructions. 

k: Knit

p: Purl

pass over k3: Pick up the yarn from the 2nd stitch and place it on the right needle, knit 3 stitches and pass the yarn over these 3 stitches

C6F (k3+k3): slip 3 stitches to cable needle, hold to front, K3, K3 from cable needle

C6B (k3+k3): slip 3 stitches to cable needle, hold to back, K3, K3 from cable needle

Cr5B (k3+p2): slip 2 stitches to cable needle, hold to back, K3, P2 from cable needle

Cr5F (p2+k3): slip 3 stitches to cable needle, hold to front, P2, K3 from cable needle

Row 1 (right side): edge stitch, pass over k3, p3, Cr5F 3 times, Cr5B 3 times, p3, pass over k3, edge stitch.

Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 (wrong side): Knit 3 stitches after and before edge stitch; work other stitches as they appear. 

Row 3: edge stitch, pass over k3, p5, Cr5F twice, C6B, Cr5B twice, p5, pass over k3, edge stitch.

Row 5: edge stitch, pass over k3, p7, Cr5F, C6F twice, Cr5B, p7, pass over k3, edge stitch.

Row 7: edge stitch, pass over k3, p9, C6B 3 times, p9, pass over k3, edge stitch.

Row 9: edge stitch, pass over k3, p7, Cr5B, C6B twice, Cr5F, p7, pass over k3, edge stitch.

Row 11: edge stitch, pass over k3, p5, Cr5B twice, C6B, Cr5F twice, p5, pass over k3, edge stitch.

Row 13: edge stitch, pass over k3, p3, Cr5B 3 times, Cr5F 3 times, p3, pass over k3, edge stitch.

Row 14 (wrong side): knit all stitches.

Rows 15, 17, 19, 21 and 23: edge stitch, pass over k3, p3, (pass over k3, p2) 3 times, (p2, pass over k3) 3 times, p3, pass over k3, edge stitch.

Rows 16, 18, 20 and 22 (wrong side): knit all stitches.

Row 24 (wrong side): edge stitch, p3, k3, (p3, k2) 3 times, (k2, p3) 3 times, k3, p3, edge stitch.

Repeat Rows 1-24 throughout.
