Wave Pattern Sweater
How to knit the Wave Pattern Sweater:
Sizes: US 8/10, UK 12/14, EU 38/40.
Materials:
300 grams of yarn (100 percent cotton, 568 yards / 3.53 ounces); knitting needles size US 0 (2.0 millimeters) and circular knitting needles size US 1½ (2.5 millimeters).
Wave Pattern:
Work according to the chart, which shows both right-side and wrong-side rows.
Repeat Rows 1 through 10 throughout.
Gauge: 29.5 stitches x 32 rows = 10 x 10 centimeters (4 x 4 inches).
Back:
Cast on 114 stitches and work in the Wave Pattern (= 8 pattern repeats + 2 edge stitches).
At a height of 35 centimeters (13.75 inches) from the cast-on edge, shape the armholes by binding off at both sides in every second row: 7 stitches once, 2 stitches once, and 1 stitch once = 94 stitches.
At both edges, work the remaining 4 stitches of the incomplete pattern repeat while continuing the stitch pattern: * 3 rows in Reverse Stocking Stitch, 2 rows in Stocking Stitch *.
At a height of 51 centimeters (20 inches) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 42 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
Work the incomplete pattern repeats at the neckline in the same way as at the armholes.
At a height of 55 centimeters (21.75 inches) from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining 26 shoulder stitches.
Front:
Work as for the Back, but begin shaping the neckline at a height of 45 centimeters (17.75 inches) from the cast-on edge.
Sleeve:
Cast on 58 stitches and work in the Wave Pattern (= 4 pattern repeats + 2 edge stitches).
For the sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch at both sides 11 times in every sixth row = 80 stitches.
Work the new stitches while continuing the stitch pattern: * 3 rows in Reverse Stocking Stitch, 2 rows in Stocking Stitch *.
At a height of 25 centimeters (10 inches) from the cast-on edge, shape the sleeve cap by binding off at both sides in every second row: 5 stitches once, 3 stitches once, 1 stitch 10 times, 3 stitches twice, then bind off the remaining 12 stitches.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
For the neckband, with the right side facing, pick up 130 stitches evenly around the neckline using the circular knitting needles and work 8 rounds in Stocking Stitch. Bind off all stitches and allow the neckband to roll slightly toward the right side.
Set in the sleeves. Sew the side seams and sleeve seams.
