Vest with Lace Stripes

How to knit the vest with lace stripes:
Sizes: EU 46–48 (UK 18–20 / US 14–16)
Materials: 230 g yarn (5% lurex, 10% mohair, 10% wool, 75% acrylic; 500 m/100 g ≈ 547 yds/3.53 oz); knitting needles 2.5 mm (US 1–2) and 3 mm (US 2–3).

Ribbing Pattern: edge stitch, * knit 2, purl 2 *, end with knit 2, edge stitch.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Stockinette Stitch: right-side rows – knit stitches, wrong-side rows – purl stitches.
Lace Stripe 1 and 2:
Work according to charts 1 and 2, which show only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.

Gauge: 25 stitches x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches).

Back:
Cast on 142 stitches using 2.5 mm (US 1–2) needles and work 16 cm (6.3 inches) in Ribbing Pattern.
Change to 3 mm (US 2–3) needles and continue in Stockinette Stitch.
After 13.5 cm (5.3 inches), for side shaping increase 1 stitch at both sides, then in every 4th row 2 times 1 stitch, in every 2nd row 5 times 1 stitch, 2 times 2 stitches, 2 times 3 stitches, 1 time 4 stitches and 1 time 6 stitches = 198 stitches.
Work the increased stitches in Stockinette Stitch.
At a height of 61 cm (24 inches) from the beginning, for shoulder shaping bind off on both sides b stitches, then in every 2nd row 3 times 6 stitches, 2 times 7 stitches, 1 time 16 stitches and 1 time 25 stitches.
At the same time as the 6th shoulder decrease, for the neckline bind off the middle 26 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For rounding, bind off at the inner edge in every 2nd row 1 time 4 stitches and 1 time 3 stitches.

Front:
Cast on 142 stitches using 2.5 mm (US 1–2) needles and work 16 cm (6.3 inches) in Ribbing Pattern.
Continue with 3 mm (US 2–3) needles and divide the stitches as follows:
For the left half, place the first 51 stitches of the row on a holder; on the remaining 91 stitches work the right half as follows: edge stitch, 3 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 21 stitches Lace Stripe 2, 65 stitches Stockinette Stitch, edge stitch.
On the left side, for side shaping and shoulder shaping, make increases and decreases as for the back.
At the same time, for the neckline shaping decrease on the right side 1 stitch in every 2nd row 3 times and in every 4th row 37 times as follows: after the lace stripe in the first 10 rows of the pattern, instead of the last slip-slip-pass-over decrease, work 3 stitches together with a slip-slip-pass-over decrease (slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 2 stitches together, pass the slipped stitch over); in the following 8 rows, after the last yarn over, work 2 stitches together knitwise.
Finish the work at the same height as the back.
For the left half, return the held stitches to the needle and for the front band cast on an additional 40 stitches = 91 stitches.
Work symmetrically to the right half and with Lace Stripe 1, perform the neckline decreases symmetrically to the right half by working stitches together knitwise before the lace pattern.

Finishing:
Work the shoulder seams.
Along the front edges and the back neckline, pick up 244 stitches using 3 mm (US 2–3) needles, work 3 rows in Reverse Stockinette Stitch and bind off knitwise.
Sew the left front band on the wrong side.
Along the armholes, pick up 88 stitches each, work 3 rows in Reverse Stockinette Stitch and bind off knitwise.
Work the side seams.
