Gauge:
Vertical Stripe: 23 stitches and 28 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm);
Diamond: 3.25 in (8 cm) wide.
Back:
Cast on 115 (123) 139 stitches and work 1.5 in (4 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 10 stitches evenly across the last row = 125 (133) 149 stitches.
Then arrange the stitches as follows: 1 edge stitch, 1 stitch in Reverse Stocking Stitch, 121 (129) 145 stitches in Main Pattern, 1 stitch in Reverse Stocking Stitch, 1 edge stitch.
After 22.75 in = 162 rows (22.75 in = 162 rows) 23.5 in = 168 rows from the ribbing, bind off the center 27 (27) 31 stitches for the neckline and finish each side separately.
For the neckline shaping, bind off 4 stitches once and 2 stitches once at the inner edge in every second row.
After 23.5 in = 168 rows (23.5 in = 168 rows) 24.5 in = 174 rows from the ribbing, bind off the remaining 43 (47) 53 stitches for each shoulder.
Front:
Cast on 114 (124) 140 stitches and work 1.5 in (4 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 10 stitches evenly across the last row = 124 (134) 150 stitches.
Then arrange the stitches as follows: 1 edge stitch, 52 (57) 65 stitches in Main Pattern (for Size EU 36/38 begin at Arrow A), 18 stitches of the Diamond, 52 (57) 65 stitches in Main Pattern (for Size EU 36/38 end at Arrow B and work 1 knit stitch instead of the last slip decrease), 1 edge stitch.
After 14.25 in = 100 rows (that is, after the fourth Diamond), divide the work in half for the V-neck and finish each side separately.
For the neckline shaping, bind off 1 stitch 14 (15) 17 times at the inner edge in every fourth row.
For the first 5 decreases, purl the fifth and fourth stitches before the neckline together and the fourth and fifth stitches after the neckline together.
Beginning with the sixth decrease, on the right half purl the last stitch of the Main Pattern together with the first stitch of the Diamond; on the left half purl the last stitch of the Diamond together with the first stitch of the Main Pattern.
After 23.5 in = 168 rows (23.5 in = 168 rows) 24.5 in = 174 rows from the ribbing, bind off 43 (47) 53 stitches at the outer edge for each shoulder and continue working the remaining 5 stitches in pattern for the back neckband.
In the first row, increase 1 edge stitch at the right edge (left half) and at the left edge (right half) = 6 stitches on each side.
After 3.5 (3.5) 4 in (9 (9) 10 cm) from the shoulder, bind off these stitches.
Sleeves:
Cast on 46 (46) 50 stitches for each sleeve and work 1.5 in (4 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 13 (13) 17 stitches evenly across the last row = 59 (59) 67 stitches.
Continue in the Main Pattern.
For the sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch at each side 28 times in every fourth row from the ribbing, incorporating the increased stitches into the pattern = 115 (115) 123 stitches.
After 16.25 in = 114 rows from the ribbing, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Join the shoulder seams and the neckband seam.
Sew the neckband to the back neckline.
Set in the sleeves, then sew the side seams and sleeve seams.
