Gauge:
Patent stitch pattern: 18 stitches and 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in);
Cable pattern: 69 stitches = 34 cm (13.4 in) wide.
Back:
Cast on 103 (111) 119 stitches and work as follows: edge stitch, 16 (20) 24 stitches in patent stitch pattern, 69 stitches in cable pattern, 16 (20) 24 stitches in patent stitch pattern, begin with 1 knit stitch or correspondingly 1 patent stitch, edge stitch.
After 38 cm = 122 rows (15 in = 122 rows) from cast-on, shape armholes on both sides by decreasing in every 2nd row 5 times 1 stitch and in every 4th row 3 times 1 stitch.
To do this, on the right edge work the 3rd and 4th stitches together with a slip-slip-pass-over decrease (= slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 stitch and pass the slipped stitch over), and on the left edge work the 4th and 3rd stitches from the end together knitwise.
After 60 cm = 192 rows (61 cm = 196 rows; 62 cm = 198 rows) = 23.6 in (24 in; 24.4 in) from cast-on, bind off the remaining 87 (95) 103 stitches, the center 41 (45) 45 stitches form the neckline.
Front:
Work as for the back, but with neckline shaping.
After 50 cm = 160 rows (51 cm = 164 rows; 52 cm = 166 rows) = 19.7 in (20 in; 20.5 in) from cast-on, bind off the center 11 (15) 15 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For neckline shaping, at the inner edge bind off in every 2nd row 2 times 3 stitches, 1 time 2 stitches and 4 times 1 stitch, then in every 4th row 3 times 1 stitch.
Bind off the remaining 23 (25) 29 shoulder stitches on each side at the same height as the back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 49 (53) 53 stitches and work in patent stitch pattern, ending before the edge stitch with 1 purl stitch.
At the same time, from cast-on increase for sleeve shaping on both sides in every 12th row 10 times (in every 12th row 10 times) in every 10th row 12 times 1 stitch = 69 (73) 77 stitches, working the increased stitches into the pattern.
After 42 cm = 134 rows (42 cm = 134 rows; 40 cm = 128 rows) = 16.5 in (16.5 in; 15.7 in) from cast-on, shape the sleeve cap by binding off on both sides in every 2nd row 3 times 2 stitches, 16 times 1 stitch and 3 times 2 stitches.
After 55.5 cm = 178 rows (55.5 cm = 178 rows; 53.5 cm = 172 rows) = 21.9 in (21.9 in; 21.1 in) from cast-on, bind off the remaining 13 (17) 21 stitches.
Finishing:
Work the shoulder seams.
Pick up 116 (124) 124 stitches around the neckline with circular needles, work 2 cm (0.8 in) in ribbing pattern, then bind off the stitches as they appear.
Crochet the bound-off edge alternately with 1 single crochet and 1 picot (= 3 chain stitches and 1 single crochet back into the first chain stitch).
Set in the sleeves, work the side seams and sleeve seams.
