Work Rows 1–78 once, then repeat Rows 55–78 throughout.

Gauge: 24 stitches and 33 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).

Back:
Cast on 124 (134) 144 stitches and for the lower edging work 3/8 in (1 cm) in Garter Stitch, increasing 10 stitches evenly across the last row = 134 (144) 154 stitches.
Continue as follows: 1 edge stitch, 7 (12) 17 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 118 stitches Cable and Diamond Pattern, 7 (12) 17 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 1 edge stitch.
After 22 3/4 in = 192 rows (22 3/4 in = 192 rows) 23 1/2 in = 198 rows from the lower edging, bind off the center 28 (28) 32 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For the neck shaping, bind off from the inner edge in every 2nd row 1 x 2 stitches and 3 x 1 stitch.
After 24 in = 202 rows (24 in = 202 rows) 24 3/4 in = 208 rows from the lower edging, bind off the remaining 48 (53) 56 stitches for each shoulder.

Front:
Work as for the Back, but with a V-neck.
For this, after 18 1/2 in = 156 rows from the lower edging, divide the work at the center and finish both sides separately.
For the V-neck shaping, decrease from the inner edge in every 2nd row 16 (16) 18 x and in every 4th row 3 x 1 stitch.
Finish the remaining 48 (53) 56 shoulder stitches on each side at the same height as the Back.

Sleeves:
Cast on 50 (50) 54 stitches and work 3/8 in (1 cm) in Garter Stitch, increasing 13 stitches evenly across the last row = 63 (63) 67 stitches.
Continue as follows: 1 edge stitch, 6 (6) 8 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 49 stitches Cable and Diamond Pattern, 6 (6) 8 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 1 edge stitch.
At the same time increase for sleeve shaping on both sides from the lower edging in every 6th row 5 x and in every 4th row 26 x (in every 6th row 5 x and in every 4th row 26 x) in every 4th row 31 x and in every 2nd row 3 x 1 stitch in Stockinette Stitch = 125 (125) 135 stitches.
After 16 1/2 in = 138 rows (16 1/2 in = 138 rows) 15 3/4 in = 132 rows from the lower edging, bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Join the shoulder seams.
With the circular knitting needles pick up 121 (121) 135 stitches around the neckline and work 3 rounds = 3/8 in (1 cm) in Garter Stitch, working 3 stitches together at the point of the V-neck in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, then bind off all stitches.
Set in the sleeves, join the side seams and sleeve seams.
