How to knit the Sweater in Lace Stripes:
Sizes: UK 8/10 (12/14) 16/18, US 4/6 (8/10) 12/14
Materials:
600 (650) 650 g yarn (60% cotton, 40% acrylic, length = 110 m/50 g / approx. 120 yds/1.75 oz), knitting needles 4 mm (US 6), circular needles 3.5 mm (US 4).
Stocking stitch in the round: knit all stitches.
Lace Stripes (Main pattern): number of stitches multiple of 17 + 12 (3) 11 + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to the chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and the last 8 (12) 16 stitches of the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat and end with the first 4 (8) 12 stitches of the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Work rows 1–6 once, then repeat rows 3–6 throughout.
Gauge: 20 stitches and 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).
Back:
Cast on 99 (107) 115 stitches and work in the main pattern.
For the neckline, after 62 cm (24.5 in) = 174 rows from cast-on, bind off the middle 23 (23) 25 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For the shaping at the inner edge, bind off in every second row 1 x 4 (4) 5 stitches and 1 x 2 stitches.
After 64 cm (25.25 in) = 180 rows from cast-on, bind off the remaining 32 (36) 38 shoulder stitches.
Front:
Work as the back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this, after 55 cm (21.75 in) = 154 rows from cast-on, bind off the middle 15 (15) 17 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For the shaping at the inner edge of the neckline, bind off in every second row 1 x 4 (4) 5 stitches, 1 x 3 stitches, 1 x 2 stitches and 1 x 1 stitch.
Sleeves:
Cast on 41 (45) 49 stitches and work in the main pattern as follows: 1 edge stitch, work the last 13 (15) 0 stitches of the pattern repeat once, work the pattern repeat 1 (1) 2 times, end with the first 9 (11) 13 stitches of the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch. At the same time, from cast-on, increase for the sleeve shaping on both sides 8 times in every sixth row and 17 times in every fourth row 1 stitch each, working the new stitches in pattern = 91 (95) 99 stitches.
After 43 cm (17 in) = 120 rows from cast-on, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.
Along the neckline edge, pick up 92 (92) 100 stitches with the circular needle and work 5 cm (2 in) in the round in stocking stitch, then bind off all stitches.
