Sweater in Lace Pattern
How to knit the Sweater in Lace Pattern:
Sizes: US 4/6 (US 8/10) US 12/14
Finished measurements:
Bust: 34/36 (38/40) 44/46 in European sizes
Material:
500 (550) 600 g yarn (50% viscose, 50% acrylic, 130 m/50 g / 142 yd/1.76 oz); straight knitting needles US 4; short circular knitting needles US 2½.
Stockinette stitch: knit on right-side rows, purl on wrong-side rows.
Reverse stockinette stitch: purl on right-side rows, knit on wrong-side rows.
Horizontal Rib Pattern: * 8 rows stockinette stitch, 2 rows reverse stockinette stitch, repeat from * throughout.
Lace Pattern: Work with a multiple of 14 stitches + 1 + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to the chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear and purl the yarn overs.
Begin with 1 edge stitch, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with 1 stitch after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 1–24 throughout.
Gauge:
Lace Pattern: 25 stitches and 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in);
Horizontal Rib Pattern: 22 stitches and 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).
Back/Front:
Cast on 129 (143) 157 stitches and work 1 wrong-side row in knit stitches.
Then continue in the Lace Pattern.
After 32 cm (12.6 in) = 103 rows from the cast-on edge, shape the armholes by binding off 2 stitches at each side 7 times in every second row = 101 (115) 129 stitches.
After 57 cm (22.4 in) = 183 rows from the cast-on edge, bind off the centre 35 stitches for the neckline and finish each side separately.
Shape the neckline by binding off 3 stitches twice and 2 stitches twice at the neck edge in every second row.
After 58 cm (22.8 in) = 187 rows from the cast-on edge, shape the shoulders by binding off 6 (8) 9 stitches 3 times at each side in every second row.
After 60 cm (23.6 in) = 193 rows from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining 5 (6) 10 shoulder stitches on each side.
Sleeves:
Cast on 59 stitches for each sleeve and work 1 wrong-side row in knit stitches, then work 24 rows in the Lace Pattern for the cuff.
Continue in the Horizontal Rib Pattern.
Shape the sleeves by increasing 1 stitch at each side 26 times in every fourth row and 1 stitch at each side 2 times in every second row from the cuff, incorporating the increased stitches into the pattern = 115 stitches.
Shape the sleeve cap by binding off at each side in every second row * 1 stitch 3 times and 2 stitches once, repeat from * once more, then bind off 1 stitch once in the next second row.
After 40 cm (15.7 in) = 128 rows from the cuff, bind off the remaining 93 stitches.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
With the short circular needle, pick up 106 stitches evenly around the neckline and work in the round as follows: 2 rounds purl, next round: * knit 2 stitches together, yarn over, repeat from *, 1 round knit, 2 rounds purl. Bind off all stitches.
Set in the sleeves. Sew the side seams and sleeve seams.
