Sweater in Lace Diamond Pattern

How to knit the Sweater in Lace Diamond Pattern:
Sizes: EU 38/40 (US 6/8, UK 10/12).
Material:
700 g yarn (100% cotton, 115 m/50 g; approx. 2510 yds total). Straight needles size 3 mm and 3.5 mm (US 2.5 and 4), and circular needle size 3 mm (US 2.5).

Ribbing Pattern, needles size 3 mm (US 2.5): alternately 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.
Lace Diamond Pattern (main pattern), needles size 3.5 mm (US 4):
Work according to chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
Begin with 1 edge stitch, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with 1 stitch after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Work rows 1 to 32 once, then repeat rows 3 to 32 throughout.

Gauge: 24.5 stitches and 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).

Back:
Cast on 114 stitches and work 11 cm (4.3 in) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 29 stitches evenly in the last row = 143 stitches.
Continue in the main pattern.
At a height of 40 cm (15.7 in) from the cast-on edge, bind off 10 stitches on each side = 123 stitches.
At a height of 63.5 cm (25 in), bind off the middle 49 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For neck shaping, bind off in every 2nd row 1 time 3 stitches and 1 time 2 stitches.
At a height of 65 cm (25.6 in), bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.


Front:
Work as the back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this, at a height of 60 cm (23.6 in), bind off the middle 33 stitches and in every 2nd row bind off 1 time 3 stitches, 4 times 2 stitches and 2 times 1 stitch.
Bind off the remaining stitches at the same height as the back.

Sleeves:
Cast on 52 stitches for each sleeve and work 7 cm (2.75 in) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 31 stitches evenly in the last row = 83 stitches.
Continue in the main pattern.
For sleeve shaping, increase on both sides alternately in every 6th row and every 8th row 16 times 1 stitch, and in every 6th row 4 times 1 stitch = 123 stitches.
At a height of 52 cm (20.5 in), bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
Pick up 110 stitches along the neckline using circular needles, work 1 round purl stitches and then 3 cm (1.2 in) in Ribbing Pattern, then bind off all stitches.
Sew the side and sleeve seams, leaving the upper 4 cm (1.6 in) of the sleeve seams open. Set in the sleeves.
