Sweater in Lace Cable Pattern
How to knit Sweater in Lace Cable Pattern:
Size: EU 38/40 (44/46) – UK 10/12 (16/18) – US 6/8 (12/14).
Materials:
700 (750) g yarn (25% linen, 25% cotton, 25% viscose, 25% acrylic, approx. 125 m/50 g; 137 yds/1.76 oz), knitting needles 2.5 mm (US 1–2) and 3.5 mm (US 4), circular needle 2.5 mm (US 1–2), 40 cm/16 in long.
Ribbing Pattern, needles 2.5 mm (US 1–2): knit 1, purl 1 alternately.
Lace Cable Pattern (Main Pattern), needles 3.5 mm (US 4):
Work according to chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear and purl the yarn overs.
Repeat rows 1–28 throughout.
Gauge: 26 stitches and 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).
Back:
Cast on 114 (126) stitches and work 6 cm (2.4 in) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing evenly 32 (33) stitches in the last row = 146 (159) stitches.
Continue in Main Pattern, after the edge stitch work the pattern repeat 11 (12) times and finish with the following stitch from chart + 1 edge stitch.
At 43 cm (17 in) height bind off on both sides 2 stitches once for armholes, then in every 2nd row bind off 2 stitches 5 times and 1 stitch once = 120 (133) stitches.
At 68 (69) cm (26.8 (27.2) in) height bind off the middle 36 (37) stitches for neckline and on both sides in every 2nd row bind off 7 stitches once and 3 stitches once.
At 70 (71) cm (27.6 (28) in) height bind off remaining shoulder stitches.
Front:
Work as Back up to neckline.
For neckline at 60 (61) cm (23.6 (24) in) height bind off the middle 20 (21) stitches and on both sides in every 2nd row bind off 4 stitches once, 3 stitches once, 2 stitches twice and 1 stitch 4 times, then in every 4th row bind off 1 stitch 3 times.
At 70 (71) cm (27.6 (28) in) height bind off remaining shoulder stitches.
Sleeves:
Cast on 48 (52) stitches and work 6 cm (2.4 in) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing evenly 33 (29) stitches in the last row = 81 stitches.
Continue in Main Pattern and in the 1st row after the edge stitch work the pattern repeat 6 times and finish with the following stitch + 1 edge stitch.
For sleeve shaping increase on both sides for size 38/40 in every 4th row 1 stitch 31 times, for size 44/46 in every 4th row 1 stitch 25 times, then alternately in every 2nd and 4th row increase 1 stitch 8 times = 143 (147) stitches.
At 45 cm (17.7 in) height bind off on both sides 2 stitches once, then in every 2nd row bind off 2 stitches once and 1 stitch 6 times, then bind off remaining stitches.
Finishing:
Close all seams and set in sleeves.
Pick up approx. 140 stitches around neckline with circular needle and work 3 cm (1.2 in) in Ribbing Pattern, then bind off stitches.
