Summer Sweater with Lace Stitch Patterns

How to knit the Summer Sweater with Lace Stitch Patterns:
Sizes: US 10/12 (14/16), UK 14/16 (18/20), EU 40/42 (44/46).
Materials:
650 (700) g yarn (50% cotton, 50% viscose; 120 yd/1.76 oz); US 1½ (2.5 mm) and US 4 (3.5 mm) knitting needles; US C-2 (3.0 mm) crochet hook.

Ribbing Pattern, US 1½ (2.5 mm) needles: multiple of 3 stitches + 2 edge stitches.
Row 1 (wrong side): 1 edge stitch, * 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch; repeat from *, 1 edge stitch.
Row 2 and all following rows: work stitches as they appear.

Stockinette Stitch, US 4 (3.5 mm) needles: right-side rows knit stitches, wrong-side rows purl stitches.

Reverse Stockinette Stitch, US 4 (3.5 mm) needles: right-side rows purl stitches, wrong-side rows knit stitches.

Garter Stitch, US 4 (3.5 mm) needles: knit all stitches on right-side and wrong-side rows.

Checkerboard Stitch Pattern, US 4 (3.5 mm) needles:
Rows 1–4: alternate 4 stitches in Stockinette Stitch and 4 stitches in Reverse Stockinette Stitch.
Rows 5–8: alternate 4 stitches in Reverse Stockinette Stitch and 4 stitches in Stockinette Stitch.
Repeat Rows 1–8 throughout.

Lace Stitch Pattern, US 4 (3.5 mm) needles:
Work according to Chart 1, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work stitches as they appear; purl the yarn overs.


Leaf Stitch Pattern, US 4 (3.5 mm) needles:
Work according to Chart 2, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work stitches as they appear; purl the yarn overs.

Vertical Lace Panels, US 4 (3.5 mm) needles: multiple of 12 stitches + 2 edge stitches.
Row 1 (right side): 1 edge stitch, * knit 5 stitches, yarn over, knit 1 stitch, skpo (= slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 stitch and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch), knit 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, knit 1 stitch, yarn over; repeat from * throughout, 1 edge stitch.
Row 2 and all following even rows (wrong side): purl all stitches and the yarn overs.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 throughout.

Gauge: 22 stitches and 32 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm).

Back:
Cast on 110 (119) stitches and work 2⅜ inches (6 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 17 (18) stitches evenly across the last row = 127 (137) stitches.
Continue as follows: 16 rows Checkerboard Stitch Pattern, 20 rows Lace Stitch Pattern, 8 rows Garter Stitch, 20 rows Leaf Stitch Pattern, 8 rows Garter Stitch, then complete the piece in Vertical Lace Panels.
Work the Lace Stitch Pattern as follows: 1 edge stitch, 5 pattern repeats over 25 (27) stitches, 1 edge stitch.
Work the Leaf Stitch Pattern as follows: 1 edge stitch, 5 stitches in Reverse Stockinette Stitch, 5 pattern repeats over 23 (25) stitches, 5 stitches in Reverse Stockinette Stitch, 1 edge stitch.
Work the Vertical Lace Panels as follows: 1 edge stitch, 10 pattern repeats (from stitch 2 through stitch 12 of the pattern repeat and 10 complete pattern repeats), stitches 1 through 5 of the pattern repeat (stitches 1 through 4 of the pattern repeat), 1 edge stitch.
At 22¾ (23¼) inches (58 (59) cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 29 stitches for the neck opening, then bind off 3 stitches twice on each side in every second row.
At 23⅝ (24) inches (60 (61) cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining stitches for each shoulder.

Front:
Work as for the Back, but with a deeper neck opening.
At 20½ (20⅞) inches (52 (53) cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 13 stitches for the neck opening, then on each side bind off in every second row: 3 stitches twice, 2 stitches twice, and 1 stitch four times.
At 23⅝ (24) inches (60 (61) cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining stitches for each shoulder.

Sleeves:
Cast on 44 (47) stitches and work 2⅜ inches (6 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 25 (26) stitches evenly across the last row = 69 (73) stitches.
Continue in Vertical Lace Panels as follows: 1 edge stitch, stitches 6 (4) through 12 of the pattern repeat, 5 pattern repeats (5 pattern repeats plus stitches 1 and 2 of the pattern repeat), 1 edge stitch.
For the sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch at each side in every 6th row 8 times, then alternately in every 4th and 6th row 14 times = 113 (117) stitches.
At 17¾ inches (45 cm) from the cast-on edge, bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Join the shoulder seams.
Work 1 round of single crochet and 1 round of crab stitch (single crochet worked from left to right) around the neck opening.
Join the side and sleeve seams. Set the sleeves into the armholes.
