Summer Sweater in Lace Pattern
How to knit the Sweater in a Lace Pattern:
Sizes: UK 10/12 (14/16) 18/20; US sizes: 6/8 (10/12) 14/16
Materials:
500 (550) 600 g yarn (100% cotton, 137 yds/1.76 oz); size 4 US knitting needles and size 2.5 US circular needles.
Stockinette stitch in rounds: work knit stitches only.
Lace Pattern: work with a multiple of 9 stitches + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs, work 2 consecutive yarn overs as 1 purl stitch and 1 twisted purl stitch.
Between edge stitches repeat the pattern repeat throughout, work Rows 1–24 once.
Eyelet stripe:
Right-side rows: * knit 2 stitches together, 2 yarn overs, repeat from * throughout;
Wrong-side rows: purl the stitches and yarn overs, dropping 1 yarn over.
Pattern sequence: * 24 rows Lace Pattern, 2 rows eyelet stripe, repeat from * throughout.
Gauge: 22 stitches and 28.5 rows = 4 x 4 inches / 10 x 10 cm.
Back:
Cast on 119 (128) 137 stitches and work in the pattern sequence.
After 23.25 inches = 168 rows (23.25 inches = 168 rows) 24 inches = 174 rows from cast-on, bind off the center 19 (20) 25 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For neckline shaping, bind off 8 stitches once and 4 stitches once at the inner edge in every 2nd row.
After 24 inches = 174 rows (24 inches = 174 rows) 25 inches = 180 rows from cast-on, bind off the remaining 38 (42) 44 shoulder stitches.
Front:
Work as for back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this, after 21 inches = 150 rows (21 inches = 150 rows) 22 inches = 156 rows from cast-on, bind off the center 17 (18) 23 stitches, then in every 2nd row bind off 4 stitches twice, 2 stitches once and 1 stitch 3 times.
Sleeves:
Cast on 56 stitches and work in the pattern sequence.
At the same time, increase for sleeve shaping on both sides 1 stitch 27 times in every 4th row (1 stitch 28 times in every 4th row and 1 stitch once in the following 2nd row) 1 stitch 26 times in every 4th row and 1 stitch 5 times in every 2nd row, incorporating the increased stitches into the pattern = 110 (114) 118 stitches.
After 16 inches = 116 rows from cast-on, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Join shoulder seams.
Using circular needles, pick up 112 (114) 124 stitches around the neckline, work 2 inches / 5 cm in stockinette stitch and bind off all stitches loosely.
Join side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
