Summer Lace and Cable Sweater

How to knit the Summer Lace and Cable Sweater:
Sizes: Small/Medium (Large/Extra Large) XX-Large/3X-Large
To fit bust: 36/38 (40/42) 44/46 in / 91/97 (102/107) 112/117 cm
Materials:
550 (550) 600 g yarn (50% cotton, 50% acrylic, 153 yds/50 g); US 4 circular knitting needles (3.5 mm) and US E-4 crochet hook (3.5 mm).

Stockinette Stitch: on right-side rows work knit stitches, on wrong-side rows work purl stitches.
Reverse Stockinette Stitch: on right-side rows work purl stitches, on wrong-side rows work knit stitches.
Center Panel over 21 stitches:
Work according to chart 1, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the twisted knit stitches through the back loop.
Work rows 1 through 42 once, then repeat rows 19 through 42 throughout.
Lace Pattern: multiple of 12 stitches + 10 stitches.
Work according to chart 2, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.
Begin with the stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with the stitches after the pattern repeat.
Repeat rows 1 through 18 throughout.
Cable Pattern: multiple of 8 stitches + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to chart 3, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.
Repeat rows 1 through 16 throughout.

Gauge: 24 stitches and 31 rows = 4 x 4 in / 10 x 10 cm.


Back:
Cast on 129 (139) 149 stitches and work as follows: 1 edge stitch, 7 (0) 5 stitches in Stockinette Stitch, 34 (46) 46 stitches in Lace Pattern, 2 stitches in Reverse Stockinette Stitch, 8 stitches in Cable Pattern, 2 stitches in Reverse Stockinette Stitch, 21 stitches in Center Panel, 2 stitches in Reverse Stockinette Stitch, 8 stitches in Cable Pattern, 2 stitches in Reverse Stockinette Stitch, 34 (46) 46 stitches in Lace Pattern, 7 (0) 5 stitches in Stockinette Stitch, 1 edge stitch.
After 11.5 in / 29 cm = 90 rows from cast-on, bind off 6 stitches at each side once for armholes = 117 (127) 137 stitches.
After 20.5 in / 52 cm = 162 rows (20.5 in / 52 cm = 162 rows) 21.25 in / 54 cm = 168 rows from cast-on, bind off 6 (7) 8 stitches 4 times on every second row for shoulder shaping.
At the same time, with the first shoulder decrease, bind off the center 47 stitches for neckline and finish both sides separately.
For neckline shaping, bind off 2 stitches once and 1 stitch twice on every second row along inner edge.
After 21.75 in / 55 cm = 170 rows (21.75 in / 55 cm = 170 rows) 22.5 in / 57 cm = 176 rows from cast-on, bind off remaining 7 (8) 9 shoulder stitches.

Front:
Work as Back, but with deeper neckline.
For this, after 17.75 in / 45 cm = 140 rows (17.75 in / 45 cm = 140 rows) 18.5 in / 47 cm = 146 rows from cast-on, bind off center 35 stitches, then on every second row bind off 3 stitches once, 2 stitches twice and 1 stitch 3 times.

Sleeves:
Cast on 90 (90) 98 stitches and work in Cable Pattern.
For sleeve shaping, from cast-on increase 1 stitch at each side 10 (10) 11 times alternately on every second and fourth row, working stitches into pattern = 110 (100) 120 stitches.
After 5 in / 13 cm = 40 rows (5 in / 13 cm = 40 rows) 6 in / 15 cm = 46 rows from cast-on, bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Join shoulder seams.
Work single crochet and shell edging in rounds around all edges (= * 1 single crochet, skip 2 base stitches, work 7 double crochet stitches into next stitch, skip 2 base stitches, repeat from * throughout).
Join side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
