Summer Cardigan with Lace Diamonds

How to knit the Cardigan with Lace Diamonds:
Sizes: UK 10 (UK 14) UK 16/18 / US 6 (US 10) US 12/14 / EU 38 (42) 44/46
Materials:
500 (550) 660 g yarn (46% acrylic, 31% viscose, 23% cotton, 126 yd/1.76 oz); knitting needles size 2.5 mm (US 1.5) and 3.5 mm (US 4); crochet hook 3.5 mm (US E-4); 6 buttons.

Ribbing Pattern, 2.5 mm (US 1.5) needles: * knit 2, purl 2 *, repeat throughout.

All following patterns are worked with 3.5 mm (US 4) needles.
Stockinette Stitch: right-side rows knit stitches, wrong-side rows purl stitches.

Eyelet Stripes: Multiple of 2 stitches.
Row 1 (right side): knit 2 stitches together, yarn over.
Rows 2 and 4: purl all stitches and yarn overs.
Row 3: yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch.
Repeat Rows 1–4 throughout.

Lace Diamonds Pattern: Multiple of 30 stitches.
Work according to chart.
The chart shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs, or follow the chart symbols.
Repeat Rows 1–40 throughout.

Pattern Sequence: * 13 (18) 21 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 2 stitches Eyelet Stripe Pattern, 30 stitches Lace Diamonds, 2 stitches Eyelet Stripe Pattern, 14 stitches Stockinette Stitch **.


Gauge: 23 stitches and 29 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).

Back:
Cast on 110 (120) 126 stitches and work 2 in (5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 14 stitches evenly across the last row = 124 (134) 140 stitches.
Then work the pattern sequence as follows: work once from * to ** and once from ** to *.
At 14.25 in (36 cm) from the beginning, shape armholes by binding off 3 (6) 6 stitches at each side, then in every second row bind off 3 stitches 3 times, 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 4 times = 84 (88) 94 stitches.
At 22.75 (23.25) 23.25 in (58 (59) 59 cm) from the beginning, shape shoulders by binding off 6 (8) 8 stitches at each side, then in every second row bind off 6 (6) 7 stitches 3 times.
At the same time, for the neckline bind off the center 16 stitches and finish both sides separately.
At the neckline edge bind off 5 stitches twice in every second row = total length 23.5 (24) 24 in (60 (61) 61 cm).

Left Front:
Cast on 56 (60) 64 stitches and work 2 in (5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 6 (7) 6 stitches evenly across the last row = 62 (67) 70 stitches.
Then work the pattern sequence from * to **, the inner Stockinette Stitch stitch serves as an edge stitch.
Work armhole and shoulder shaping at the outer edge as for the Back.
At the same time, when beginning the armhole shaping, bind off 1 stitch at the inner edge for the neckline, then bind off 1 stitch once in every second row and 1 stitch 16 times in every fourth row.

Right Front: Work as a mirror image of the Left Front.

Sleeves:
Cast on 66 stitches and work 2 in (5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 22 (26) 26 stitches evenly across the last row = 88 (92) 92 stitches.
Then distribute the stitches as follows: * 1 edge stitch, 16 (18) 18 stitches Stockinette Stitch, 2 stitches Eyelet Stripe Pattern, 24 stitches Stockinette Stitch **, 2 stitches Eyelet Stripe Pattern, finish from ** to *.
For sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch at each side 7 times in every fourth row = 102 (106) 106 stitches.
Incorporate increased stitches into the pattern.
At 6 in (15 cm) from the beginning, shape sleeve cap by binding off 3 stitches at each side, then in every second row bind off 2 stitches 6 times, 1 stitch 12 times, 2 stitches 6 times and 3 stitches once.
At 13 in (33 cm) from the beginning, bind off the remaining stitches.

Finishing:
Join shoulder seams.
Crochet 3 rows of single crochet along the vertical front edges and neckline.
Sew on the buttons. Stretch 1 single crochet stitch to form each buttonhole.
Match the center of each sleeve to the shoulder seam and set in the sleeves.
Join the remaining seams.
