Round Yoke Knit Top

Size: US 6 / UK 10

200 g yarn (100% polyester, 220 m/100 g); circular needle size 6.0 mm (US 10 / UK 4), length 100 cm; cable needle; 2 stitch holders; tapestry needle.

Ribbing Pattern 1/1 (worked in the round): alternately work 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch.

Ribbing Pattern 2/2 (worked in the round): alternately work 2 purl stitches, 2 knit stitches.

Round 1: * purl 1, yarn over, knit 3 stitches together, yarn over *; repeat from * to *.

Rounds 2–6: * purl 1, knit 3 *; repeat from * to *.

Repeat Rounds 1–6 throughout.

Round 1: * purl 6, cross 4 stitches to the left (= slip 2 stitches onto a cable needle and hold in front of work, knit 2, then knit 2 stitches from the cable needle) *; repeat from * to *.

Rounds 2–4: * purl 6, knit 4 *; repeat from * to *.

Repeat Rounds 1–4 throughout.

Ribbing Pattern 2/2: 16 stitches x 24 rounds = 10 cm x 10 cm.

The top is knitted from the top down in one piece, worked in rounds.

Cast on 88 stitches with the circular needle and work 8 cm in Ribbing Pattern 1/1, increasing 8 stitches evenly in the last round = 96 stitches.

Continue with the yoke as follows: work 24 pattern repeats of 4 stitches in the Fantasy Lace Pattern.

In each column of reverse stockinette stitch, increase 1 stitch on each side every 6th round, 3 times in total.

At the end, each column of reverse stockinette stitch will contain 7 stitches.

When the yoke measures 18 cm from the beginning, there should be 240 stitches on the needle.

Distribute the stitches as follows: 70 stitches for the back. Place the next 50 stitches for the right sleeve on a stitch holder, 70 stitches for the front, and the next 50 stitches for the left sleeve on a stitch holder.

Work the body over 140 stitches (front and back) in rounds in the Cable Pattern: 14 pattern repeats, each of 10 stitches.

When the Cable Pattern measures 23 cm, work 7 cm in Ribbing Pattern 2/2 and bind off all stitches.

Transfer the 50 held stitches of one sleeve onto the circular needle and work 5 pattern repeats, each of 10 stitches, in the Fantasy Lace Pattern. Keep the column of reverse stockinette stitch 7 stitches wide.

When the sleeve measures 3 cm, bind off all stitches. Work the second sleeve in the same way.

Neckline finishing:

For a double facing, turn the neckline to the wrong side and sew it down invisibly at a height of 3 cm.
