Material:
600 g yarn (100% merino wool, approx. 165 yds/50 g), knitting needles US 2.5 (3 mm) and a circular needle US 2.5 (3 mm).
Ribbing Pattern 2/2: work * 2 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches * alternately.
Stockinette Stitch: right-side rows – knit stitches, wrong-side rows – purl stitches.
Diamond Pattern: the number of stitches is a multiple of 36 + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to Chart 1, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs. If there are 2 consecutive yarn overs, purl one yarn over and purl the other through the back loop.
Repeat the pattern repeat between the edge stitches and in Row 33 cross 4 stitches to the left over each diamond, except at the beginning and end of the row.
Work Rows 1–4 five times, then Rows 5–34 once.
Lace Pattern:
Work as the Diamond Pattern, but according to Chart 2.
Work once from Row 1 to Row 60.
Lace Yoke:
Work according to Chart 3.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs. If there are 2 consecutive yarn overs, purl one yarn over and purl the other through the back loop.
Work once from Row 1 to Row 42, then continue working the yoke upward in the established pattern.
Sequence of Patterns: 50 rows of the Diamond Pattern, 60 rows of the Lace Pattern, then continue with stripes of cables, working stockinette stitch between them.
Gauge: 25 stitches and 34.5 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).
Back:
Cast on 146 stitches and work in the sequence of patterns.
After 15 in = 130 rows from the cast-on edge, begin the lace yoke over the center 8 stitches.
After 25.5 in = 224 rows from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 28 stitches for the neckline and finish each side separately.
For rounding, bind off 5 stitches once and 4 stitches once at the inner edge in every 2nd row.
After 26.5 in = 230 rows from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining 50 shoulder stitches on each side.
Front:
Work the same as the back, but with a deeper neckline.
After 24 in = 210 rows from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 16 stitches and for rounding bind off 3 stitches twice, 2 stitches twice and 1 stitch five times, all in every 2nd row.
Sleeves:
Cast on 74 stitches and work in the sequence of patterns.
At the same time, for sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch on each side in every 4th row 31 times, starting after 2.75 in = 24 rows from the cast-on edge = 136 stitches total. Incorporate the increases into the pattern.
After 17.25 in = 152 rows from the cast-on edge, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.
From the neckline, pick up 100 stitches with the circular needle, work 1.25 in in ribbing pattern, and bind off the stitches following the pattern.
Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
