Pullover with Lace Cable Pattern
How to knit the pullover with lace and cable pattern:
Sizes: US 6/8 (10) 12/14 – UK 10/12 (14) 16/18.
Material:
750 (800) 850 g yarn (100% cotton, 115 yds/50 g), circular needles US 2½ and US 4 (UK 12 and UK 10).
Border Pattern 1 with needles US 2½ (UK 12):
Right Side Rows/Rounds: * knit 1, purl 2, yarn over, slip 1 knitwise, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over, knit 2 together, yarn over, purl 2, repeat from *.
On Wrong Side Rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs. In Rounds, knit the yarn overs.
Border Pattern 2 with needles US 2½ (UK 12):
Work according to chart 1.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and stitches before the pattern repeat, work the pattern repeat throughout, end with stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
In height, work once rows 1–16.
All following patterns are worked with needles US 4 (UK 10).
Stockinette Stitch: knit on Right Side, purl on Wrong Side.
Reverse Stockinette Stitch: purl on Right Side, knit on Wrong Side.
Lace Cable Pattern (Main Pattern):
Work according to chart 2.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and stitches from mark A, work the pattern repeat throughout, end according to the chart and 1 edge stitch.
In height, work once rows 1–80, then repeat rows 25–80 throughout.
Gauge: 21.5 stitches and 28 rows = 4 x 4 in in Main Pattern.
Front:
Cast on 123 (129) 135 stitches and work 1 Wrong Side row in knit.
Then continue in Border Pattern 2, adding at both edges 0 (3) 6 stitches in stockinette stitch + edge stitches = approx. 2 in.
Continue in Main Pattern with 0 (3) 6 stitches in reverse stockinette stitch + edge stitches at both sides.
At 23 (23¾) 24½ in from cast-on, bind off the center 17 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For the neckline shaping, bind off 4 stitches once, 3 stitches once, 2 stitches twice, and 1 stitch three times, always at the beginning of Right Side rows.
At 25¼ (26) 26¾ in total height, bind off the remaining stitches.
Back:
Work as front, but at 24½ (25½) 26¼ in total height bind off the center 35 stitches, then at the following Right Side row bind off 5 stitches.
Sleeves:
Cast on 45 stitches + 2 edge stitches and work 1½ in in Border Pattern 1, in the last row evenly increase 67 stitches.
Continue as follows: 1 edge stitch, 15 stitches in reverse stockinette stitch, 35 stitches in Main Pattern (starting from mark B and row 25 of chart), 15 stitches in reverse stockinette stitch, 1 edge stitch.
For sleeve shaping, increase at both edges in every 4th row 25 (26) 27 times 1 stitch in reverse stockinette stitch.
At 16 (16½) 17 in total height, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Close shoulder seams.
Pick up the required number of stitches around the neckline with circular needles and work ¾ in in Border Pattern 1, then bind off all stitches.
Sew in sleeves. Close side and sleeve seams.
