How to knit the sweater with diamond pattern:
Sizes: US 6–8 (12–14) / UK 8–10 (16–18).
Materials:
600 (650) g yarn (80% cotton, 20% viscose, 120 m/50 g). Knitting needles size 3 mm (US 2½ / UK 11) and 4 mm (US 6 / UK 8), circular needle size 3 mm (US 2½ / UK 11), 40 cm (16 in) long.
Ribbing Pattern, needles size 3 mm: alternate 1 knit stitch and 1 purl stitch.
Diamond Pattern (Main Pattern), needles size 4 mm:
work according to the chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.
Repeat rows 1 to 36 throughout.
Gauge: 20 stitches and 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).
Back:
Cast on 84 (100) stitches and work 7 cm (about 2¾ in) in ribbing.
In the last row, increase evenly 19 (23) stitches = 103 (123) stitches.
Then work in the main pattern as follows: 1 edge stitch, 10 stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern 4 (5) times, 11 stitches after the repeat, 1 edge stitch.
At a height of 65 cm (about 25½ in), bind off the center 23 stitches for the neckline and on both sides bind off 3 stitches twice in every 2nd row.
At a height of 67 cm (about 26⅜ in), bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.
Front:
work as for the back, but with a deeper neckline.
At a height of 55 cm (about 21¾ in), bind off the center 11 stitches and on both sides bind off 3 stitches once, 2 stitches twice, and 1 stitch five times in every 2nd row.
At a height of 67 cm (about 26⅜ in), bind off the remaining shoulder stitches.
Sleeves:
cast on 40 (42) stitches and work 5 cm (about 2 in) in ribbing.
In the last row, increase evenly 17 (19) stitches = 57 (61) stitches.
Then continue in the main pattern starting from the 25th row of the chart, working the rows as follows: 1 edge stitch, stitches from the 4th (2nd) to the 10th stitch of the beginning section, repeat the pattern twice, stitches from the 1st to the 8th (10th) stitch of the ending section, 1 edge stitch.
For sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch on both sides alternately in every 4th and 6th row 23 times = 103 (107) stitches.
At a height of 45 cm (about 17¾ in), bind off all stitches.
Work the second sleeve the same way.
Finishing:
Sew all seams and set in the sleeves.
Along the neckline edge, pick up about 120 stitches on circular needles, work 3 cm (about 1¼ in) in ribbing, and bind off all stitches.
