Pullover with Arc and Lace Patterns
How to knit the pullover with arc and lace patterns:
Sizes: US 6/8 (US 10/12) – UK 10/12 (UK 14/16)
Materials:
750 (850) g /26.5 (30) oz cotton yarn (100% cotton, 103 m/50 g - 112 yd/1.75 oz). Knitting needles sizes 3 mm and 3,5 mm (US 3 and US 4); circular knitting needles size 3 mm (US 3).
Stockinette stitch, needles US 3 or US 4: right-side rows – knit stitches, wrong-side rows – purl stitches.
Lower edging pattern, needles US 3:
Rows 1–8: stockinette stitch;
Row 9: * knit 2 stitches together, yarn over, repeat from * throughout;
Rows 10–16: stockinette stitch.
Work all following patterns with needles US 4.
Arc pattern (over 22 stitches):
Work according to chart 1, which shows both right-side and wrong-side rows.
Repeat rows 1–8 throughout.
Lace pattern (over 15 stitches):
Work according to chart 2, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
Repeat rows 1–8 throughout.
Average gauge: 21 stitches and 26.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches).
Back:
Cast on 110 (124) stitches and work the lower edging pattern for 16 rows, increasing evenly 6 stitches in the last row = 116 (130) stitches.
Continue in the following sequence: edge stitch, 3 (6) stitches stockinette stitch, * 22 stitches arc pattern, 3 (5) stitches stockinette stitch, 15 stitches lace pattern, 3 (5) stitches stockinette stitch, repeat from * once, 22 stitches arc pattern, 3 (6) stitches stockinette stitch, edge stitch.
At 26 1/4 inches = 176 rows from the lower edging, bind off the center 34 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For the neckline shaping, bind off at the inner edge every other row 4 stitches twice and 3 stitches once.
At 27 1/4 inches = 184 rows from the lower edging, bind off the remaining 30 (37) shoulder stitches.
Front:
Work as for the back, but with a deeper neckline.
At 23 3/4 inches = 160 rows from the lower edging, bind off the center 20 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For the neckline shaping, bind off at the inner edge every other row 3 stitches twice, 2 stitches four times, and 1 stitch four times.
Bind off the remaining 30 (37) shoulder stitches at the same height as the back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 44 stitches and work the lower edging pattern for 16 rows, increasing evenly 20 stitches in the last row = 64 stitches.
Continue in the following sequence: edge stitch, 2 stitches stockinette stitch, 15 stitches lace pattern, 3 stitches stockinette stitch, 22 stitches arc pattern, 3 stitches stockinette stitch, 15 stitches lace pattern, 2 stitches stockinette stitch, edge stitch.
At the same time, shape the sleeve by increasing on both sides every 4th row 1 stitch 25 times = 114 stitches.
At 15 1/2 inches = 104 rows from the lower edging, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Work the seams, leaving the upper 10 3/4 inches of the side seams open for the armholes.
Pick up approximately 116 stitches around the neckline with circular needles and work the lower edging pattern for 16 rounds, working stockinette stitch as knit stitches throughout.
Bind off all stitches.
Fold the edging to the inside and sew it down.
