Poncho with Fantasy Stitch Pattern
How to knit a poncho with fantasy stitch pattern:
One size, back length 90 cm.
Material:
900 g yarn (48% wool, 48% polyacrylic, 4% metallized polyester, 55 m/50 g), 2 circular knitting needles size US 15 (10 mm).
Fantasy Stitch Pattern: number of stitches divisible by 4.
Work according to the chart, which shows right-side and wrong-side rows.
In height, repeat rows 1–4.
Note: check the number of stitches only in rows 1 and 4.
Ribbing Pattern: *knit 2, purl 2*, repeat.
Knit without edge stitches, work all stitches in pattern.
Gauge: 9 stitches and 12 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).
The poncho is worked in one piece.
Cast on 102 stitches and work 3 cm (about 1¼ in) in Ribbing Pattern, at the same time evenly increase 2 stitches in the last wrong-side row = 104 stitches.
Then continue as follows: 2 knit stitches, 25 repeats of 4 stitches each, 2 knit stitches.
Work the pattern repeat 26 times in height.
After 90 cm (about 35½ in) from the beginning, in the 4th pattern row, divide the work in half.
Place the left 52 stitches on hold.
Right Front:
On the first 52 stitches, work as follows: 2 stitches before the pattern repeat, 12 x 4 stitches of the pattern repeat, 2 stitches after the pattern repeat, with the last 2 stitches knitted.
Work 87 cm (about 34¼ in) in Fantasy Stitch Pattern, 3 cm (about 1¼ in) in Ribbing Pattern, and after 180 cm (about 71 in) from the beginning, bind off all stitches.
Left Front:
Work symmetrically, so that the first 2 stitches are knitted.
