When working Lace Pattern 1, in Row 1 increase 3 stitches evenly, and in the last row decrease them again.
Gauge: 22 stitches and 29.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).
Back:
Cast on 128 stitches and work the hem 5.5 cm (2.2 in) = 20 rows in Diamonds with cables, increasing 4 stitches evenly in the last row = 132 stitches.
Then work in pattern sequence.
After 60 cm (23.6 in) = 178 rows from the hem, bind off the middle 14 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For shaping, bind off from the inner edge in every 2nd row 6 times 3 stitches and 1 time 2 stitches.
After 68 cm (26.8 in) = 200 rows from the hem, bind off the remaining 39 shoulder stitches.
Front:
Work as for the back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this, after 57 cm (22.4 in) = 168 rows from the hem, bind off the middle 10 stitches and for shaping bind off from the inner edge in every 2nd row 8 times 2 stitches and 6 times 1 stitch.
Bind off the remaining 39 shoulder stitches at the same height as the back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 41 stitches and work the hem 5.5 cm (2.2 in) = 20 rows in Diamonds with cables, increasing 17 stitches evenly in the last row = 58 stitches.
Then work in pattern sequence, distributing the stitches from the center.
At the same time, for shaping increase on both sides, starting from the hem, 30 times in every 4th row 1 stitch, incorporating the increased stitches into the pattern = 118 stitches.
After 42 cm (16.5 in) = 126 rows from the hem, bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
Work shoulder seams.
Work side seams, leaving the upper 27 cm (10.6 in) open for the armholes.
Pick up 138 stitches along the neckline with circular needles and work 5.5 cm (2.2 in) in Diamonds with cables, then bind off all stitches in pattern.
Set in sleeves.
