How to work the Leaf Pattern Pullover:
Sizes: US 6, (12) 14–16; UK 10, (16) and 18–20.
Materials:
600 (700) 750 g yarn (70% silk, 30% cotton; yardage 120 m/50 g). Straight needles size 6 mm (US 10, UK 4) and size 7 mm (US 10¾, UK 2), as well as a crochet hook size 6 mm (US J/10, UK 4).
Ribbing Pattern with size 6 mm needles: *knit 2, purl 2*, repeat to end.
Reverse Stockinette Stitch with size 7 mm needles: right-side rows – purl stitches, wrong-side rows – knit stitches.
Work according to the chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear; purl the yarn overs.
Between the edge stitches, repeat the pattern repeat and rows 1 to 28 continuously.
Gauge:
In leaf pattern: 15 stitches and 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).
Back:
Cast on 74 (82 / 86) stitches and work 3 cm (about 1¼ in) in rib pattern, increasing evenly 1 (3 / 3) stitch(es) in the last row.
Then, between the edge stitches, work in leaf pattern starting at point A (B / A) on the chart, and for size 46–48 work 1 extra purl stitch at each side.
After 42 cm (16½ in) from the ribbing, for the armholes bind off at each side 3 stitches once, then in every 2nd row bind off 2 stitches once and 1 stitch 4 times.
After 18 (20 / 21) cm (7 / 8 / 8¼ in) from the beginning of the armholes, for the neck bind off the center 17 (19 / 21) stitches and finish each shoulder separately. In the 2nd row from the beginning of the neckline, bind off 3 stitches once at the neckline edge.
At the same time, for the shoulder slope, bind off at the armhole edge 6 (7 / 8) stitches once, then in every 2nd row bind off 6 stitches once and 5 (7 / 7) stitches once (sizes 44 and 46–48: 7 stitches twice).
When the neckline height is 2 cm (¾ in), all stitches are bound off.
Front:
Work as for the back, but with a V-neckline.
For this, after 4 (5 / 6) cm (1½ / 2 / 2⅜ in) from the beginning of the armholes, bind off the center stitch and finish each side separately.
At the neckline edge, bind off in every 2nd row 1 stitch 2 (2 / 4) times and in every 4th row 1 stitch 9 (10 / 9) times.
When the neckline height is 16 (17 / 17) cm (6¼ / 6¾ / 6¾ in), all stitches are bound off.
Sleeves:
Cast on 34 stitches and work 3 cm (about 1¼ in) in rib pattern.
Then, between the edge stitches, work in leaf pattern, positioning the motif symmetrically from the center.
For sleeve shaping, increase at each side: in every 4th row 0 (0 / 9) times 1 stitch, in every 6th row 5 (16 / 9) times 1 stitch, in every 8th row 8 (0 / 0) times 1 stitch, working the new stitches in pattern.
After 37 (37 / 35) cm (14½ / 14½ / 13¾ in) from the ribbing, for the sleeve cap bind off at each side 4 stitches once, then in every 2nd row bind off 3 stitches once, 2 stitches once, 1 stitch 6 times, 2 stitches 3 times, and 3 stitches once.
After 10 cm (4 in) from the beginning of the sleeve cap, bind off the remaining stitches straight.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
Ease the sleeve caps slightly and sew sleeves into the armholes.
Sew the sleeve seams and side seams.
With a crochet hook, work 1 round of single crochet (US) / double crochet (UK) and 1 round of reverse single crochet (US) / crab stitch (UK) around the neckline edge.
Lightly steam all seams.
