Ladder Stitch Vest

How to knit the ladder stitch vest:
Size: US 6-8/UK 8-10
Materials:
270 g of yarn (20% silk, 80% acrylic, 190 m/50 g); knitting needles size 4.5 mm (US 7) and 5 mm (US 8); 4 buttons.
Rib Pattern:
Row 1 (right side): 2 knit, 1 purl through back loop, 1 purl, 1 purl through back loop.
Row 2 (wrong side): 1 knit through back loop, 1 knit, 1 knit through back loop, 2 purl.
Repeat these 2 rows throughout.
Main Pattern:
The pattern is not worked as a solid fabric in consecutive rows as usual, but in separate ladders that are joined to each other during the knitting process.
Number of stitches is a multiple of 4.
1st Ladder:
Right side: slip edge stitch, 3 knit, do not knit the remaining stitches of the row. Turn work.
Wrong side: slip edge stitch (with yarn in front), 3 purl.
Only 4 stitches are being worked, work them in Stockinette stitch until the ladder height is 8 rows (the last row is a wrong side row).
Joining the 2nd ladder:
Right side: slip edge stitch, 3 knit, 1 yarn over, 4 knit from the main fabric. Turn work.
1st and 2nd ladders.
9 stitches are being worked, work them in Stockinette stitch for another 6 rows (the last row is a right side row).
Joining the 3rd ladder:
Wrong side: slip edge stitch, 3 purl, drop the next stitch off the needle and unravel to the base. Turn work.
Connect the ladders in this way until the last ladder on the left side is included in the work.
Last Ladder:
Work 16 rows in Stockinette stitch on the outer 4 stitches (the last row is a right side row).
Then work the inclination of the ladders in the other direction.
To do this, everything that was worked on the right side and knitted with knit stitches must be done on the wrong side and knitted with purl stitches.

Note! The dimensions on the pattern and the gauge are given after dropping the stitches.

Gauge, Main Pattern: 11 stitches x 18 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back:
For the first part, cast on 37 stitches on size 4.5 mm needles and work in Rib Pattern.
After 5 cm from the beginning of work, switch to size 5 mm needles and work in Main Pattern, increasing 1 x 4 stitches at the armhole edge in every 8th row = 41 stitches.
After 45 cm from the beginning of work, decrease 3 x 4 stitches at the armhole edge in every 8th row = 29 stitches.
After 60 cm from the beginning of work, bind off all stitches.
Work the second part symmetrically so that the pattern also looks like a mirror image relative to the first part.

Left Front:
Cast on 37 stitches on size 4.5 mm needles and work in Rib Pattern.
After 5 cm from the beginning of work, switch to size 5 mm needles and work in Main Pattern, performing increases and decreases at the armhole edge as on the Back = 29 stitches.
After 40 cm from the beginning of work, bind off 4 x 4 stitches for the neckline on the inner edge in every 12th row.
After 60 cm from the beginning of work, bind off the remaining 13 stitches.

Right Front: Work symmetrically.

Finishing:
Sew shoulder and side seams.
For the bands along the neckline and front edges, pick up and knit 275 stitches on size 4.5 mm needles and work in Rib Pattern, simultaneously making buttonholes on the Right Front.
After 2 cm of band height, work 2 rows in 1x1 Rib (1 knit, 1 purl) and bind off stitches.
For the band along each armhole, pick up and knit 68 stitches on size 4.5 mm needles and work in Rib Pattern.
After 2 cm of band height, work 2 rows in 1x1 Rib and bind off stitches.
Sew on buttons.
