Lace Pullover with Border
How to knit the Lace Pullover with Border:
Size: US 8–10 / UK 12–14 / EU 40–42
Material:
400 g yarn (100% cotton, 191 yds/50 g); knitting needles size US 1.5 (UK 13 / 2.5 mm).
Garter Stitch: knit all stitches in every row.
Lace Pattern with Border:
Work according to Chart 1, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
In height, work once from row 1 to row 32, then repeat rows 9 to 24 throughout.
Lace Pattern with Cables:
Work according to Chart 2, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.
In height, repeat rows 1 to 8 throughout.
Gauge: 26.5 stitches x 33 rows = 4 x 4 in. (10 x 10 cm).
Back:
For the border cast on 58 stitches and work 21 in. (53 cm) in the lace pattern with border, bind off stitches.
Along the straight edge of the patterned strip, slightly easing in, pick up 135 stitches and work in the lace pattern with cables as follows: edge stitch, 3 stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat 11 times, 9 stitches after the pattern repeat, edge stitch.
After 7 in. (18 cm) from the patterned strip, for the armholes bind off 7 stitches on each side and in every 2nd row bind off 3 times 2 stitches and 5 times 1 stitch = 99 stitches.
At 14 in. (36 cm) from the patterned strip, for the neck bind off the center 35 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For shaping, at the inner edge bind off in every 2nd row 6 stitches once and 2 stitches once.
At 15 in. (38 cm) from the patterned strip bind off the remaining 24 shoulder stitches.
Front:
Work the same as the back, but for the neck at 13 in. (33 cm) from the patterned strip bind off the center 31 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For shaping, at the inner edge bind off in every 2nd row 4 stitches once, 2 stitches twice, and 1 stitch twice.
At 15 in. (38 cm) from the patterned strip bind off the remaining 24 shoulder stitches.
Sleeves:
For the border cast on 39 stitches and work 10.25 in. (26 cm) in the lace pattern with border: edge stitch, stitches 1–38 of the chart, edge stitch.
Along the straight edge of the patterned strip, slightly easing in, pick up 70 stitches and work in the lace pattern with cables, beginning after the edge stitch from the 4th stitch of the pattern repeat.
For sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch at each side in every 6th row 16 times, incorporating the new stitches into the pattern = 102 stitches.
After 11.5 in. (29 cm) from the patterned strip, for the sleeve cap bind off 7 stitches on each side and in every 2nd row bind off 3 times 2 stitches, 10 times 1 stitch, 3 times 2 stitches, 2 times 3 stitches, and 4 stitches once.
At 17 in. (43 cm) from the patterned strip bind off the remaining 24 stitches.
Finishing:
Join the right shoulder seam.
Along the neck edge pick up 112 stitches and work 4 rows in garter stitch, bind off stitches.
Join the left shoulder seam.
Set in sleeves, sew up side and sleeve seams.
