Lace Pattern Sweater

How to knit the Lace Pattern Sweater:
Sizes: UK 10-14 / US 6-10
Materials:
650 g yarn (100% finest mulberry silk, 137 yds per 1.76 oz). Instead of silk, cotton yarn with the same yardage may also be used. Knitting needles size 1.5 and 2.5 UK / 2 and 3 US. One short circular needle size 1.5 UK / 2 US.

Ribbing Pattern, needles size 1.5 UK / 2 US: alternately work 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.
All following patterns are worked with needles size 2.5 UK / 3 US:
Stockinette Stitch: right-side rows knit stitches, wrong-side rows purl stitches.
Lace Pattern:
Work according to chart.
The chart shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear.
Work the yarn overs as follows: On rows 6, 8 and 10, as well as rows 20, 22 and 24, purl the yarn overs, on all remaining rows knit the yarn overs.
In height, work rows 1-30 once, then repeat rows 3-30 throughout.
In width, begin with 1 edge stitch and the first 7 stitches, repeat the 14-stitch pattern repeat throughout, end with the remaining 7 stitches and 1 edge stitch.

Gauge: 28 stitches and 34 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm), measured after washing.

Back:
Cast on 150 stitches for the ribbing and work 2 inches / 5 cm in Ribbing Pattern.
On the last ribbing row, increase 20 stitches evenly across = 170 stitches. (1 increase = pick up the horizontal strand between 2 stitches onto the left needle, then work it through the back loop with the right needle).
Then continue working in Lace Pattern.
After 20.5 inches / 52 cm = 178 rows from the ribbing, bind off the center 38 stitches for the neckline and continue working both sides separately.
For the neckline shaping, at the inner edge bind off in every 2nd row 1 time 4 stitches, 1 time 3 stitches and 1 time 2 stitches.
Bind off the remaining 57 shoulder stitches at a neckline height of 0.75 inches / 2 cm = 8 rows.
Finish the second side in the same way, reversing all shaping.

Front:
Work as for the Back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this, after 19 inches / 48 cm = 164 rows from the ribbing, bind off the center 18 stitches and on both sides of them bind off in every 2nd row 1 time 5 stitches, 1 time 4 stitches, 1 time 3 stitches, 2 times 2 stitches and 3 times 1 stitch for each half.
Bind off the remaining 57 shoulder stitches at a neckline height of 2.5 inches / 6 cm = 22 rows.

Sleeves:
Cast on 62 stitches for the ribbing and work 2.5 inches / 6 cm in Ribbing Pattern.
On the last ribbing row, increase 20 stitches evenly across = 82 stitches.
Then continue working in the following distribution: 1 edge stitch, 26 stitches Stockinette Stitch, all 28 stitches of the Lace Pattern, 26 stitches Stockinette Stitch and 1 edge stitch.
At the same time, for the sleeve shaping increase on both sides in every 4th row 35 times 1 stitch = 152 stitches.
Work the increased stitches in Stockinette Stitch.
After 16.5 inches / 42 cm = 144 rows from the ribbing, bind off all stitches loosely.

Finishing:
Join the shoulder seams.
Then for the neckband, pick up approximately 120 stitches with the circular needle and work 1.25 inches / 3 cm in Ribbing Pattern.
After that, bind off the stitches as they appear.
Place the sleeves centered and sew them in flat, then join the side and sleeve seams.
