Lace and Cable Sweater

How to knit the Lace and Cable Sweater:
Sizes: UK 12/14 (22/24), US 8/10 (18/20), EU 38/40 (46/48)
Materials:
650 (750) g yarn (50% virgin wool, 50% cotton, 765 (875) yd per 1.76 oz skein); UK needles 11 and 10, US needles 2½ and 4, 3 mm and 3.5 mm knitting needles; UK and US size 2½ circular needle, 3 mm.

Ribbing Pattern, 3 mm needles: alternate 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch.

Main Pattern, 3.5 mm needles: number of stitches is a multiple of 34 + 1 (21) + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to chart, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, work all stitches as they appear, purl the yarn overs.
Begin with 1 edge stitch, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with the stitch after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch (begin with 1 edge stitch and the stitches before arrow A, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with the stitches before arrow B and 1 edge stitch; on Rows 21 and 23 work knit stitches instead of the crossed stitches).
Work Rows 1–4 twelve times, Rows 5–44 once, Rows 45–54 three times, Rows 55–92 once, then repeat Rows 93–102 throughout.
For the sleeves, work Rows 1–4 three times, Rows 5–44 once, then repeat Rows 45–54 throughout.

Gauge: 25 stitches and 32 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm).

Back:
Cast on 134 (154) stitches and work 2 in (5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 5 stitches evenly across the last row = 139 (159) stitches.
Then work in Main Pattern.
After 23.75 in = 194 rows (60.5 cm) from the ribbing, bind off the centre 39 (43) stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For neckline shaping, bind off 3 stitches once and 2 stitches once at the inside edge on every 2nd row.
After 24.5 in = 200 rows (62.5 cm) from the ribbing, bind off the remaining 45 (53) shoulder stitches.

Front:
Work as for Back, but with a deeper neckline.
For this, after 21.75 in = 176 rows (55 cm) from the ribbing, bind off the centre 29 (33) stitches and for neckline shaping bind off 3 stitches once, 2 stitches twice and 1 stitch three times on every 2nd row.

Sleeves:
Cast on 48 (52) stitches and work 1.5 in (4 cm) in Ribbing Pattern, increasing 23 (19) stitches evenly across the last row = 71 stitches.
Then work in Main Pattern.
For sleeve shaping, beginning at the ribbing, increase 1 stitch at each side 29 times on every 4th row (27 times on every 4th row and 5 times on every 2nd row), incorporating the increased stitches into the pattern = 129 (135) stitches.
After 14.75 in = 120 rows (37.5 cm) from the ribbing, bind off all stitches.

Finishing:
Join the shoulder seams.
Using the circular needle, pick up 112 (120) stitches around the neckline, work 1 round purl, then work 1 in (2.5 cm) in Ribbing Pattern and bind off all stitches in pattern.
Join the side seams and sleeve seams. Set in the sleeves.
