Ruffled Jacket with Tulip Pattern
How to knit a ruffled jacket with a tulip lace pattern:
Size: EU 36-38; US 10–12; UK 14–16
Materials:
200 g of yarn (50% goat down, 50% wool; 225 m/50 g); circular knitting needles size 3.5 mm (US 4 / UK 10); 3 glass buttons, 8 mm in diameter; crochet hook size 2 mm (US B/1 / UK 14); Tapestry needle.
Stockinette Stitch: Right-side rows – knit stitches, Wrong-side rows – purl stitches.
Tulip Pattern:
Work according to the chart, which shows both right-side and wrong-side rows.
Gauge:
In stockinette stitch on 3.5 mm needles: 20 stitches x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Tulip pattern (beginning): 1 repeat = 17 sts x 14 rows = 8.5 x 5.5 cm.
Tulip pattern (end): 1 repeat = 14 sts x 12 rows = 6.5 x 5 cm.
Construction:
The front and back pieces are worked in one piece in stockinette stitch.
The button bands that continue into the peplum, the lower part of the sleeves, and the collar are all knitted in the Tulip pattern.
Written Instructions:
Decorative Edge (Peplum Base):
Cast on 393 stitches (23 repeats of 17 sts + 2 edge sts) and knit 37 rows according to the chart.
You’ll have 324 sts (23 repeats of 14 sts + 2 edge sts).
Next row (WS): purl.
Following RS row: work decreases to shape the scalloped hem:
After the 4th repeat (57 sts), k2tog, k1, repeat 16 more times = 159 sts.
Knit the next 56 sts and edge st, again k2tog, k1, repeat 16 more times.
Knit 2 rows in stockinette stitch. Set aside.
Back and Fronts in One Piece:
Cast on 94 sts (80 for back, 7 for each front).
Work increases for front curves at both ends: 4 times 2 sts in every 2nd row, 6 times 1 st in every 2nd row → total 122 sts.
Mark side seams at 21st st from each edge.
Shaping:
Decrease with centered double decrease (3 sts together) at 20th row, then twice every 6th row.
Increase 1 st on each side of side seam for fronts 3 times every 6th row → total 128 sts.
At 18 cm from bottom edge:
Divide into 3 parts: 21 sts left front, 86 sts back, 21 sts right front.
Work each section separately.
Right Front Armhole & Neck:
Armhole shaping: bind off 5 sts, then 2, then 1 st twice (every 2nd row) = 12 sts.
Neck shaping: at 11 cm from armhole start, decrease 1 st near edge, then 2 sts twice every 4th row = 9 sts.
Bind off remaining 9 sts at 17 cm armhole height.
Left Front: work symmetrically.
Back Armholes & Neckline:
Bind off 5 sts on each side, then 2 sts, then 1 st twice (every 2nd row) = 68 sts.
At 14 cm armhole height: bind off center 30 sts.
Shape neckline by binding off 5, 4, and 1 sts from each side.
At 17 cm armhole height, bind off remaining 9 sts on each side.

Sleeves:
Cast on 87 sts (5 repeats of 17 + 2 edge sts).
Work 37 rows in Tulip pattern (72 sts after last row).
Switch to stockinette stitch. In first RS row, k13, k2tog = 67 sts.
At 31 cm from cast-on, shape armhole: bind off 5 sts on each side, then 2 sts, then 1 st twice (every 2nd row) = 49 sts.
Continue straight for 12 cm.
Shape sleeve cap: bind off 1 st each side, then 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 sts on each side in every 2nd row.
Bind off remaining 17 sts.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.
Graft live edge of peplum to body piece, easing gently along curves.
Sew sleeve seams, set in sleeves.
Collar:
Cast on 155 sts (9 repeats of 17 + 2 edge sts).
Work 35 rows in pattern (128 sts at end).
Work 2 rows in stockinette stitch.
Graft collar along neckline, starting under right band, approx. 10 cm from shoulder seam, and ending symmetrically on left side.
Crochet Edging:
Along hem, sleeve ends, and collar: single crochet 1 in each stitch, with 2 chain stitches between.
Button Placement:
