Women's Sweater in Fancy Pattern

Size: 12/14 (US 8/10).

Materials: 

Yarn: 400 g (100% Acrylic, 100 g); 1 pair quick knit needles and 1 circular needle, both size 5 mm (US 8).

Reverse garter st (rev gst): purl every row. 

Reverse stocking stitch (rev st st): work RS rows p and WS rows k. 

Fancy Pattern: work according to chart. 

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.

Rib Pattern: alt K1, P1. 

Gauge over Fancy Pattern: 19 sts and 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back:

Cast on 82 sts and work 4 rows in rev gst. 

Cont as foll: 2 x (14 sts in rev st st, 20 sts in Fancy Patt), 14 sts in rev st st. 

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 42 cm from cast on, at both ends bind off 3 sts once, 2 sts twice, 1 st once on every 2nd row. 

After 62 cm from cast on, bind off sts. 

Front:

Work same as back until piece meas 49 cm from cast on.

Neckline Shaping: Divide piece in the middle and work each side separately. 

At neckline edge bind off 1 st 15 times on every 2nd row. 

After 62 cm from cast on bind off sts.

Sleeves:

Cast on 42 sts and work 4 rows in rev gst. 

Cont as foll: 11 sts in rev st st, 20 sts in Fancy Patt, 11 sts in rev st st. 

Sleeve Slants: Inc 1 stitch each side every 8th row 11 times. Work inc'd sts into rev st st. 

Sleeve Cap Shaping: After 42 cm from cast on, on either side bind off 3 sts once, 2 sts twice, 1 st 10 times, 4 sts twice on every 2nd row, then bind off remaining sts.

Finishing:

Sew shoulder seams. 

With circular needle, pick up 104 sts evenly around neck edge. Beg with center of front V-shaped neckline. 

Work 5 cm in Rib Pattern back and forth in rows. 

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear. 

Set in sleeves. Join side and sleeve seams. 

Criss-cross neckband edges and fasten with blind stitch.
