Materials: 

Yarn: 500 g (70% Merino Wool, 30% Acrylic, yardage = 100 m/50 g); quick knit needles sizes 4.5 and 5 mm (US 7 and 8), two cable needles, and open-ended zipper 35 cm long; 1 button.

Double Rib Pattern: 

With contrasting yarn, cast on half of the necessary number of sts. 

Row 1: With main yarn, work * K1, 1 yo, rep from *.

Row 2: * Work yo kwise, slip 1 st pwise, with yarn forward, rep from *. 

Row 3 and further rows: * K1, slip 1 st pwise, with yarn forward, rep from *.

Unravel contrasting yarn in finished piece.

Rib Pattern 2/2: alt K2, P2.

Stocking stitch (St st): Work RS rows K and WS rows P.

Reverse stocking stitch (Rev St st): Work RS rows P and WS rows K.

Stripe sequence: alt 3 rows in St st, 3 rows in Rev St st.

Cable (over 8 sts): 

Rows 1, 3, 5, 9: P1, K2, P2, K2, P1. 

2nd and all further even rows: work sts as they appear. 

Row 7: P1, 6-st RC (= sI K2 to first cn and hold to back, sl P2 to second cn and hold to back, K2, P2 from second cn, K2 from first cn), P1.

Repeat Rows 1-10 throughout.

Cable Pattern (over 14 sts):

Work according to chart. 

Repeat Rows 1-10 throughout.

Gauge:

20 sts and 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stripe sequence with 5 mm needles.

Back: 

Using 4.5 mm needles, cast on 86 sts and work 4 rows in Double Rib Patt and 6 rows in Rib Patt 2/2. 

Cont with 5 mm needles in stripe sequence.

After 68 cm bind off sts.

Right Front: 

Using 4.5 mm needles, cast on 52 sts and work 4 rows in Double Rib Patt and 6 rows in Rib Patt 2/2. 

Cont with 5 mm needles as foll: 3 sts in Double Rib Patt, P1, 8 sts in Cable, 14 sts in Cable Patt, 8 sts in Cable, 18 sts in stripe sequence. 

When piece measures 62 cm from cast on, for neckline shaping, at right end bind off 16 sts once and then on every 2nd row 1 st 8 times. 

When piece measures 68 cm from cast on, bind off rem sts for shoulder.

Left Front: Work in reverse.

Finishing: 

Sew shoulder seams. 

Collar: With 5 mm needles, pick up 83 sts evenly around neck edge and work 20 rows in stripe sequence. Then bind off all sts. 

For armhole bands, with 4.5 mm needles, pick up 26 sts around each armhole edge (13 sts for back, 13 sts for front) and work in Rib Patt 2/2. Work 6 sts 3 times into patt at each end on every 2nd row = 62 sts.

After 8 rows, work 2 rows in Double Rib Patt and bind off all sts using kitchener stitch. 

Sew side seams. Sew zipper in place.
