Knitted Lace Jacket
Size: 10 (US 8).
Materials:
300 g of yarn (100% Cotton, yardage = 125m/50 g); knitting needles size 4 mm (US 6), 5 decorative hook fasteners.
Double Ribbing: Using contrasting yarn, cast on half the required number of stitches.
Row 1: With working yarn, k1, yarn over, repeat from * to * across.
Row 2: Knit the yarn over, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, repeat from * to * across.
Rows 3 and following: K1, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, repeat from * to * across.
When the piece is finished, unravel the contrasting yarn.
Ribbing Pattern: K1, p1 alternately.
Stocking stitch: Knit on right side rows, purl on wrong side rows.
Garter stitch (gst): Knit all stitches in both right side and wrong side rows.
Lace Pattern A: Number of stitches is a multiple of 6 + 1.
Work according to Chart 1, which shows both right and wrong side rows.
Repeat Rows 1-4 throughout.
Lace Pattern B: Number of stitches is a multiple of 8 + 5.
Work according to Chart 2, which shows only right side rows.
On wrong side rows, work stitches as they appear, and purl the yarn overs.
Repeat Rows 1-10 throughout.
Pattern Sequence:
16 rows in Lace Pattern A, 4 rows in garter stitch, 4 rows in stockinette stitch, 4 rows in garter stitch, 10 rows in Lace Pattern B, 4 rows in garter stitch, 4 rows in stockinette stitch, 4 rows in garter stitch, repeat from * to *.
Gauge (pattern sequence): 22 sts and 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Back, Fronts, and Sleeves (worked together):
Cast on 211 sts + 2 edge sts, work 6 rows in double ribbing, then continue in regular ribbing.
After 2 cm from the cast-on edge, evenly decrease 30 sts, then work in the pattern sequence.
After 35 cm from the ribbing, to shape the sleeves, work the first 48 sts (right front), leave the remaining sts on hold, cast on 12 new sts on the left side, and continue working only these 60 sts.
After 8 cm, to shape the neckline, bind off or place on hold at the right edge in every 2nd row: 1 x 12 sts, 1 x 4 sts, 2 x 3 sts, 3 x 2 sts, and 2 x 1 st.
After 10 cm from the beginning of the neckline, place the remaining 30 sts on hold for the shoulder.
Work the last 48 sts (left front), cast on stitches for the left sleeve, and work in reverse.
For the back, resume working all remaining sts, cast on 12 new sts at each side, work 18 cm, then place all sts on hold.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams by grafting the held stitches together using the Kitchener stitch.
Pick up 147 sts around the neckline, including the held stitches, work 6 rows in ribbing, 4 rows in double ribbing, and graft off all sts using the Kitchener stitch.
Pick up 141 sts along each front edge (including neckline border), work 4 rows in ribbing, 4 rows in double ribbing, and graft off all sts.
Pick up 109 sts along each sleeve edge, work 6 rows in ribbing, 6 rows in double ribbing, and graft off all sts.
Sew sleeve seams.
Sew hook fasteners to the front edges at intervals of 10.5 cm.
