Short Sleeve Tunic in Lace Pattern

Sizes: M-L 

Materials:

Yarn: 400 g (55% Cotton, 45% Polyacrylic, yardage = 390 m/100 g); 1 pair quick knit needles size 3 mm (US 2.5), crochet hook size 2.5 (US B/C).

Lace Pattern:

Work according to chart 1. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.

Lace Panel:

Work according to chart 2. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.

Repeat rows 1-4 throughout.

Gauge: 22 sts and 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back: 

Cast on 113 sts and work in Lace Pattern as foll: work Rows 1-2 once, Rows 3-30 twice, then rep Rows 31-58 throughout. 

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 51 cm from beg, at each end bind off 7 sts, then 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st twice on every 2nd row = 85 sts. 

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 70 cm from cast on, bind off centre 14 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at inside edge bind off 3 sts twice, 2 sts once, 1 st twice and rem 27 sts once for shoulders on every 2nd row.

Front: 

Work as given for back, but for neckline shaping, after 46 cm from beg, work Lace Panel over center 17 sts for neckband. 

After 4 cm from beg, create K1 from center st, K1 tbl, divide sts in half and complete both sides separately.

Shape armhole as for back = 43 sts.

Work around neck edge as foll: selv st, 8 sts for band, cont working Lace Panel acc to chart 2, cont working in Lace Pattern acc to chart 1 over rem sts.

Neck Slant: Bind off 1 st 6 times on every 4th row (to the right of band, to the left of band). 

When work meas 72 cm from beg, bind off 27 sts for shoulder. Work over rem 10 sts as they appear for band.

After 7 cm from beg, join open sts of band halves using Kitchener stitch.

Sleeve: 

Cast on 69 sts and work in Lace Pattern as foll: work Rows 1-2 once, Rows 3-16 once, then rep Rows 45-48 throughout. 

Cont until work meas 3 cm from beg. Shape sleeve cap: bind off at each end 1 st 20 times, 3 sts twice and rem 17 sts once on every 2nd row.

Finishing: 

Sew shoulder and side seams. 

Sew band to back neck. 

Sew sleeve seams and set in sleeves matching sleeve center with shoulder seam. 

With crochet hook, work 1 rnd sc (single crochet) around neck band and sleeves.
