Materials: 

Yarn: 450 g (35% Merino Wool, 65% Acrylic, yardage = 150 m/50 g); 1 pair quick knit needles, sizes 2 and 3 mm (US 0 and 2.5) and one circular needle size 2 mm (US 0).

Gauge:

in Basic Pattern: 24 sts and 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Seed Stitch: 

Row 1: *k1, p1; repeat from *. 

Row 2: work all sts as they appear.

Row 3: Move pattern along 1 st.

Row 4: work all sts as they appear.

Repeat Rows 1-4 throughout.

Rib Patt: alt K2, P2 Rib. 

Cable Pattern: 

Work according to chart. Only RS rows are shown. 

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Back: 

With 2 mm needles cast on 120 sts and work 23 rows in Rib Patt.

Cont with 3 mm needles as foll: 18 sts in Seed Stitch, 84 sts in Cable Pattern and 18 sts in Seed Stitch. 

For widening, when piece measures 38 cm from cast on, work M1 (insert left needle into horizontal strand between last st worked and next st on needle, k through back loop of strand) 15 times on every 4th row on either side of Cable Pattern.  

Neckline Shaping: After 51 cm from beg, bind off center 50 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge bind off 4 sts once, 3 sts once and 2 sts 4 times on every 2nd row. 

When piece measures 60 cm from cast on, bind off rem sts for shoulders.

Front: 

Work like back, but with deeper neckline. 

After 47 cm from beg, bind off center 40 sts and complete both sides separately. 

For rounding at inside edge bind off 4 sts once, 3 sts twice and 2 sts 5 times on every 2nd row. 

When piece measures 60 cm from cast on, bind off rem sts for shoulders.

Sleeve: 

With 2 mm needles cast on 72 sts and work 23 rows in Rib Patt.

Change to 3 mm needles and cont to work in Seed Stitch. 

Sleeve Shaping: Inc 1 stitch every 8th row 12 times at each end = 96 sts. 

When piece measures 38 cm from cast on, bind off rem sts.

Finishing: 

Neck Band: Using 2 mm circular needle, cast on 200 sts and work 23 rounds in Rib Patt and 1 rnd K. Then bind off sts.

Sew shoulder seams.

Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. 

Sew band to neck.
