Knit a Lace Pullover with Faux Cord Detail
Size: US 8–10 / UK 12–14
Materials: 450 g of yarn (100% mercerized cotton, 396 m/150 g); knitting needles size US 6 / UK 8 (4 mm); crochet hook size US G/6 / UK 8 (4 mm).
Stockinette Stitch: knit on RS, purl on WS.
Reverse Stockinette Stitch: purl on RS, knit on WS.
Lace Pattern:
Work according to the chart.
The chart shows only right side rows.
On wrong side rows, purl all stitches and any yarn overs.
Faux Cord:
Drop stitches as indicated and unravel down to the second row.
Using the crochet hook, work a chain by catching the strands, then place the cord back on the needle and continue as instructed.
Gauge: 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm) in lace pattern = 16 sts x 22 rows.

Front and Back:
Work both pieces the same.
Cast on 69 sts and work as follows: 17 sts in lace pattern, 5 sts in reverse stockinette, 25 sts in lace pattern, 5 sts in reverse stockinette, 7 sts in lace pattern.
At 8¾" (22 cm) from beg:
Work 17 lace, 5 rev st st, 9 lace, 5 rev st st (decrease 2 sts in these 5 sts in this row only), 9 lace, 5 rev st st, 17 lace = 67 sts.
At 18" (46 cm) from beg:
Drop the central 3 stitches from each 5-st rev st st section and work the faux cord using the crochet hook. For the middle cord, unravel only to 22 cm; for the others, all the way down.
Then work 2 rows in reverse stockinette, 2 rows in stockinette, and bind off.
Sleeves:
Cast on 39 sts and work as follows: 17 sts in lace, 5 sts in reverse stockinette, 17 sts in lace.
At 18" (46 cm) from beg, drop central 3 sts for the faux cord.
Finish with 2 rows in reverse stockinette.
Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams (10 cm from each edge), leaving 24 cm open in the center for neckline.
Set in sleeves along 11 cm each side of the shoulder seams.
Sew sides and sleeve seams.
