Pullover with Crochet Lace Edging

Size: UK 14–16 / US 10–12

300 g of yarn (100% cotton, 100 m/50 g); knitting needles size US 6 (4 mm); crochet hook size US E-4 (3.5 mm).

Gauge: 19 sts x 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 in.

Work according to the chart, which shows only right-side rows.

On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear and purl the yarn overs.

Begin with 1 edge st, then work 8 sts before the repeat, repeat the 16-stitch pattern repeat throughout, and end with 9 sts after the repeat and 1 edge st.

Cast on 83 sts and work in Lace Diamond pattern as follows: 1 edge st, 8 sts before the repeat, repeat the pattern 4 times, 9 sts after the repeat, 1 edge st.

When work measures 31 cm (12¼ in) from the beginning, shape the armholes by binding off 3 sts at each side, then 2 sts once and 1 st once in every other row (= 71 sts remain).

When work measures 51 cm (20 in), bind off the center 27 sts for the neck opening and complete each side separately.

For rounding the neckline, bind off 3 sts twice from the inner edge in every other row and finally bind off the remaining 16 shoulder sts.

Work as for the back, but with a deeper neckline.

When work measures 45 cm (17¾ in), bind off the center 17 sts and finish each side separately.

For shaping the neckline, bind off 2 sts twice and 1 st seven times from the inner edge in every other row.

When work measures 53 cm (21 in), bind off the remaining 16 shoulder sts.

Cast on 67 sts and work in Lace Diamond pattern as follows: 1 edge st, 8 sts before the repeat, repeat the pattern 3 times, 9 sts after the repeat, 1 edge st.

When sleeve measures 19 cm (7½ in), shape the sleeve cap by binding off 3 sts at each side, then 2 sts once, 1 st 14 times, 2 sts 3 times, and finally the remaining 17 sts.

Sew shoulder seams.

Work 2 rounds of crochet around the neckline according to the crochet chart 2.

Sew side and sleeve seams, then set in the sleeves.

Crochet 176 single crochet stitches evenly along the lower edge in the round, then work 4 rounds of edging according to the crochet chart 1 (= 11 pattern repeats).

Crochet 64 single crochet stitches evenly around each sleeve edge in the round, then work 4 rounds of edging according to the crochet chart 1 (= 4 pattern repeats).
