Dress in Textured Pattern

Materials:

Yarn: 600 g (30% wool, 70% acrylic, yardage = 300m / 100 g); 1 pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 3 mm (US 3).

Rib Patt: alt K2, P2 Rib.

Garter st (gst): RS and WS rows K.

Half Brioche Stitch:

Row 1: K1, P1.

Row 2: work all sts as they appear (work K kwise, P pwise).

Row 3: insert needle into st below st on left needle, knit this st, P1

Row 4: Work sts as they appear.

Rep rows 3 and 4.

Cable Pattern: Foll Chart 1.

Cable Diamond Pattern: Foll Chart 2.

Collar Pattern: Foll Chart 3.

Gauge:

basic parts: 26 sts and 35 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

band: 28 sts and 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Lower Band:

With waste yarn, cast on 64 sts and using main yarn cont as foll: selv st, 4 sts in Half Brioche Stitch, 13 sts in Cable Pattern, 26 sts in Cable Diamond Pattern, 13 sts in Cable Pattern, 4 sts in Half Brioche Stitch (beg with P1), selv st.

When work measures 98 cm from cast on, remove waste yarn, join sts of last and first rows tog using Kitchener stitch.

Body is worked in one piece in rnds to underarms.

Using circular needle, pick up 208 sts around edge of lower band, work as foll: * 13 sts in Cable Pattern, 13 sts in gst, rep from * 8 times.

After 7 cm dec 1 st on each gst panel, then rep decs on each 8th rnd 3 more times = 176 sts.

Cont to work 16 rnds even, then inc 1 st twice on each gst panel = 192 sts.

Armhole Shaping: When work measures 40 cm from band, bind off 7 sts at both ends of gst panel and complete pieces separately.

Back (over 89 sts):

Bind off 1 st twice at both ends on every 2nd row. When piece meas 60 cm, bind off all sts = 85 sts.

Front (over 89 sts):

Bind off 1 st twice at both ends on every 2nd row.

For the Neck Shaping, after 52 cm from band, bind off center 13 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge bind off on every 2nd row 3 sts twice, 2 sts once and 1 st 3 times.

When piece measures 60 cm from band, bind off rem 25 shoulder sts.

Sleeves:

Cast on 45 sts and work as foll: selv st, 15 sts in Half Brioche Stitch (beg with K1), 13 sts in Cable Pattern, 15 sts in Half Brioche Stitch (beg with K2), selv st.

After 8 cm inc 1 st on either side = 47 sts.

After 16 cm cont to work in gst on Half Brioche Stitch while inc 6 sts evenly across the 1st row on either side of center pattern = 59 sts.

Sleeve Shaping: Inc 1 st each side every 10th row 10 times = 79 sts.

Cap Shaping: After 51 cm from beg, on either side bind off 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st 16 times, 2 sts twice, 3 sts once on every 2nd row, then bind off remaining 15 sts.

Finishing:

Close shoulder seams.

Collar: With circular needle, pick up 126 sts around neck edge and work in Collar Pattern (= 7 reps).

After 18 rnds, inc 2 sts on each rep and beg to cross 7 sts instead of 6, after 16 rnds inc 2 sts and beg to cross 8 sts instead of 7, after 16 rnds inc 2 sts and beg to cross 9 sts instead of 8 Bind off sts.

Sew side seams, sleeve seams and set in sleeves.
