Diamond Pattern Tunic

Size: M

Materials: 

Yarn: 400 g (100% Wool, yardage = 1400 m/100 g); quick knit needles and double-pointed needles, both size 2.5 mm (US 1.5).

Always work with four strands of yarn.

Basic Pattern:

Reverse stocking stitch (Rev st st): Work RS rows P and WS rows K.

Garter st: RS and WS rows K.

Diamond Pattern:

Work according to chart. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.

Gauge: 23 sts and 35 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Model is worked in separate pieces top down.

Back: 

Cast on 45 sts and work in Basic Patt. 

For raglan shaping, at 2 sts from both ends, work yos 35 times on every 2nd row (= 115 sts) and then work them on foll row as they appear. 

At the same time, work 15 rows in Basic Pattern. Then work in Diamond Pattern on center sts. 

Side Slants: Inc 1 st 13 times on every 10th row each side.

When piece measures 65 cm from beg, work 7 rows in gst and bind off all sts.

Front: 

Cast on 51 sts and work in Basic Patt.

For raglan shaping, first work 3 sts from center st 15 times (= 81 sts), then work them on foll row as they appear.  

Then, at 39 sts from both ends, work yos on every 2nd row and then work them on foll row as they appear.

Inc 2 more sts at both ends in that way = 121 sts.

After 52 rows in Basic Pattern, at 30 sts from left end, beg to work in Diamond Pattern. 

Side Slants: At the same time, inc 1 st 13 times on every 10th row each side.

When piece measures 65 cm from beg, work 7 rows in gst and bind off all sts.

Sleeves: 

Cast on 15 sts and work in Basic Patt. 

For raglan shaping, at 2 sts from both ends, work yos 35 times on every 2nd row (= 85 sts) and then work them on foll row as they appear. 

For sleeve slants, dec 1 st 14 times each side every 6th row. 

At the same time, work in Diamond Pattern over center sts: Rows 1-20 once, then rows 21-60 4 times and rows 61-80 once. 

Next, work 10 rows in Basic Pattern, 7 rows in garter st and bind off all sts. 

Finishing: 

Join raglan, side and sleeve seams. 

For band, with dpn from RS, pick up around 100 sts along neckline edge and work as foll: 4 rows K, 1 row P, 5 rows K. 

Fold band in half to inside and sew to neckline.
