Cardigan with Diamonds and Cables

Size: 8 (US 6).

Materials:

Yarn: 600 g (50% Wool, 50% Acrylic, yardage = 240m / 100g), 1 pair of knit needle size 4 mm (US 6), 5 buttons.

Garter st: RS and WS rows K.

Basic Pattern:

Work acc to сhart. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Work rows 1-44 once, then rep rows 45-48, rows 49-84 once, rows 85-88 4 times throughout.

Back:

Cast on 86 sts and work in Basic Patt.

Work rows 1-48 once, then rep rows 45-48 throughout.

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 48 cm from beg, bind off 4 sts at both ends, then 2 sts once and 1 st once on every other row.

Continue even.

When piece measures 60 cm from cast on, work rows 55-88.

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 67 cm from cast on, bind off center 20 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at neckline edge bind off 3 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st once.

When piece measures 70 cm from cast on, bind off all sts.

Right Front:

Cast on 51 sts and cont as foll: selv st, 7 sts in gst, 42 sts in Basic Patt, selv st.

Work Basic Patt same as back. Work buttonholes evenly spaced on band.

Armhole Shaping: On left side bind off 4 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st once.

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 67 cm from cast on, on right side bind off 10 sts and then on every other row 3 sts 4 times and 1 st twice.

Continue even.

When piece measures 70 cm from cast on, bind off all sts.

Left Front: Work in reverse.

Sleeves:

Cast on 44 sts and work in Basic Patt. Work rows 1-48 once, then rep rows 45-48 throughout.

Sleeve Shaping: Inc P1 each side every 8th row.

Cap Shaping: When piece measures 40 cm from cast on, at each end bind off 4 sts, 2 sts once and 1 st 14 times.

When piece measures 52 cm from cast on, bind off all sts.

Finishing:

Close shoulder seams.

Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.

Sew on buttons.

Belt: Cast on 12 sts and work in gst to finished measurements. Bind off sts.
