Lace Cardigan Knitted Top-Down
Knit a raglan cardigan from the top down
Size: EU 44 (US 14 / UK 16)
Materials:
400 g of white yarn (50% acrylic, 50% viscose), circular needles size 3 mm (US 2½ / UK 11), 7 buttons.
Rib Pattern: K1, P1, repeat.
Stockinette stitch: knit on right side rows, purl on wrong side rows.
Lace Pattern:
Work following the chart, which shows only the right side rows.
On wrong side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.
Repeat rows 1 to 22 throughout.
Lace Stripe:
Row 1: knit.
Row 2: purl.
Row 3: purl.
Row 4: knit.
Row 5: * yo, p2tog, repeat from *.
Row 6: knit the stitches, purl the yarn overs.
Row 7: purl.
Row 8: knit.
Row 9: knit.
Row 10: purl.
Work once from row 1 to 10.
Instructions:
The cardigan is worked from the top down, starting at the neckline.
Cast on 83 sts and work 1 cm in rib pattern.
Continue in stockinette stitch, distributing the stitches as follows:
selvage stitch, 12 sts for front, 2 sts for raglan line, 15 sts for sleeve, 2 sts for raglan, 23 sts for back, 2 sts for raglan, 15 sts for sleeve, 2 sts for raglan, 12 sts for front, selvage stitch.
For sleeve shaping, increase 1 stitch on each side of every raglan line in every 2nd row.
At 18 cm from cast-on, work the lace stripe and continue raglan increases.
At 23 cm, place sleeve stitches on holders.
Transfer the stitches of the right front, back, and left front to the working needles and continue flat in lace pattern.
At 63 cm, work another lace stripe, then continue in stockinette stitch.
At 66 cm, work 5 cm in rib pattern.
At 71 cm, bind off all stitches.
Transfer sleeve stitches back to the needles and continue in lace pattern.
At 35 cm from armhole, work the lace stripe again and continue in stockinette.
At 38 cm, switch to rib pattern.
At 43 cm, bind off stitches.
Work second sleeve the same way.
Sew sleeve seams.
Crochet 2 rounds of single crochet along the front edges.
At the same time, work buttonholes on the right front edge evenly spaced.
