Cable Sweater
Size: 10/12 (US 6/8).
Materials:
Yarn: 750 g (50% Alpaca, 50% Acrylic, yardage = 380 m/100 g); one pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 5mm (US 8).
The sweater is worked with 2 strands of yarn.
Rib pattern 2/1: *K2, P1, repeat from * throughout.
Cable Rib Pattern:
Work according to chart 1. The chart shows only RS rows.
On Wrong Side rows, work all sts as they appear.
Work Rows 1-4 once, then repeat Rows 3 and 4 throughout.
Main Pattern (Cable Stitch):
Work according to chart 2. The chart shows only RS rows.
On Wrong Side rows, work all sts as they appear.
Work Rows 1 - 14 once, then repeat Rows 3 - 14 throughout.
Gauges:
in main pattern: 16 sts and 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Body (Back and Front):
With a circular needle, cast on 150 sts and join for working in rnds. Work 18 rnds in Cable Rib Pattern.
Continue in Main Pattern.
On Row 53 from Cable Rib Pattern divide the work in the middle (= 75 sts) and work each piece separately.
The Armholes are straight.
Place 75 Back sts on the stitch holder.
Front:
Continue in Main Pattern.
Neckline Shaping: In Row 73 from Cable Rib Pattern, bind off center 11 sts and complete both sides separately.
For rounding at the inside edge, bind off on every 2nd row 2 sts once and 1 stitch twice = 28 sts.
Work even for 19 rows.
Shoulder Shaping: Bind off from each shoulder edge 1 stitch once and 9 sts twice.
Back:
Continue in Main Pattern.
Neckline Shaping: In Row 91 from Cable Rib Pattern, bind off center 11 sts and complete both sides separately.
For rounding at the inside edge, bind off on every 2nd row 2 sts once and 1 stitch twice = 28 sts.
Shoulder Shaping: Bind off from each shoulder edge 1 stitch once and 9 sts twice.
Sleeve Shaping:
Cast on 42 sts and work 18 rows in Cable Rib Pattern for border.
Continue in Main Pattern.
On Row 101 from Cable Rib Pattern, bind off all sts.
Finishing:
Join shoulder seams. Sew sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
Collar:
With a circular needle, pick up 66 sts evenly around the neck edge and work 15 rnds in Cable Rib Pattern, purl 1 round, then 20 rnds in Rib Pat 2/1. Bind off all sts.
Fold collar in half to Wrong Side and sew in place.
