Fantasy Pattern Cardigan

How to knit the Cardigan with a fantasy pattern:
Sizes: US 6–8 (US 14–16) / UK 10–12 (UK 18–20)
Materials:
750 (850) g yarn (40% cotton, 30% polyacrylic, 30% polyamide, 75 m/50 g). Straight needles and circular needles 4 mm, 5 buttons.
Button band pattern: Work alternately 3 stitches in Stockinette Stitch and 3 stitches in Reverse Stockinette Stitch.
Stockinette Stitch: On right-side rows knit stitches, on wrong-side rows purl stitches.
Reverse Stockinette Stitch: On right-side rows purl stitches, on wrong-side rows knit stitches.
Fantasy pattern (over 16 stitches):
Work according to the chart, which shows only right-side rows.
On wrong-side rows, work the stitches as they appear, work twisted knit stitches as twisted purl stitches, and purl the yarn overs; when there are 2 consecutive yarn overs, purl the second yarn over through the back loop.
Begin with the stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat, and end with the stitches after the pattern repeat.
Work rows 1–44 once, then repeat rows 45–68 throughout.
According to the pattern, the jacket widens towards the top.
Measure gauge and given dimensions over the height of one pattern repeat.
Gauge: 21 stitches and 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches).
Back:
Cast on 109 (125) stitches and work the Fantasy Pattern between the edge stitches.
For the armholes, after 28 cm (11 inches) from the beginning of work, bind off on both sides every second row 1 time 5 stitches, 0 (1) time 4 stitches, 1 time 3 stitches, 1 time 2 stitches, and 1 time 1 stitch.
After 20 cm (8 inches) from the beginning of the armholes, bind off the center 23 (27) stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For rounding the neckline, bind off at the inner edge every second row 2 times 4 stitches.
After 22 cm (8 3/4 inches) from the beginning of the armholes, bind off the remaining 24 (26) shoulder stitches.

Right front:
Cast on 53 (61) stitches and work the Fantasy Pattern between the edge stitches, starting at arrow A.
Work the armhole at the left edge as for the back.
For the neckline, after 43 cm (17 inches) from the beginning of work, bind off at the right edge every second row 1 time 5 stitches, 1 time 4 stitches, 1 time 3 stitches, 2 (3) times 2 stitches, and 2 times 1 stitch.
After 7 cm (2 3/4 inches) from the beginning of the neckline, bind off the remaining 24 (26) shoulder stitches.
Left front:
Work in reverse, mirroring the right front.

Fantasy Pattern Cardigan
Sleeve:
Cast on 43 (51) stitches and work the Fantasy Pattern between the edge stitches, starting at arrow B (C).
For the sleeve shaping, increase on both sides according to the pattern every fourth row 8 times 1 stitch and every third row 26 times 1 stitch.
After 40 cm (15 3/4 inches) from the beginning of work, for the sleeve cap bind off on both sides every second row 1 time 8 stitches, 1 time 5 stitches, 1 time 4 stitches, 5 times 3 stitches, 1 time 3 stitches, 1 time 4 stitches, and 1 time 5 stitches.
After 7 cm (2 3/4 inches) from the beginning of the sleeve cap, bind off all remaining stitches.
Finishing:
Work all seams. Set in the sleeves.
Along the long edges of the fronts, pick up 86 stitches each and work 3 cm (1 1/4 inches) in the button band pattern.
On the right front, after 6 rows, evenly distribute 5 buttonholes (= on a right-side row bind off 3 stitches, on the following wrong-side row cast them on again).
Along the neckline edge, pick up 89 stitches on the circular needle and work 2 rows in Stockinette Stitch, 1 row purl stitches for the fold line, and 2 rows in Stockinette Stitch.
Bind off the stitches and fold to the wrong side along the fold line.
For the collar, cast on 89 stitches and work 5 cm (2 inches) in the button band pattern.
Sew the last row along the fold line.
Sew on the buttons.
