Cardigan with 3/4 Trumpet Sleeves

How to knit the Cardigan with 3/4 Trumpet Sleeves:
Size: 36/38 (EU) = UK 8/10, US 4/6
Finished measurements (approx.): bust 88–92 cm (34.5–36 in)
Materials:
450 g yarn (60% cotton, 40% acrylic, 110 m per 50 g / approx. 120 yards per 50 g); straight needles 4.5 mm (UK 7 / US 7); circular needles 4 mm (UK 8 / US 6) and 4.5 mm (UK 7 / US 7); crochet hook 4 mm (UK 8 / US G/6); 5 buttons.

Stocking Stitch: on right-side rows knit stitches, on wrong-side rows purl stitches.
Openwork Stripe: even number of stitches.
Right-side rows: edge stitch, * yarn over, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1 stitch, pass the slipped stitch over, repeat from *, edge stitch.
Wrong-side rows: purl stitches.
Textured Pattern: number of stitches divisible by 3 + 2 edge stitches.
Row 1: edge stitch, * slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn held at back, knit 2 stitches and pass them over the slipped stitch, yarn over, repeat from *, edge stitch.
Rows 2 and 4: purl stitches.
Row 3: edge stitch, knit 1 stitch, * yarn over, slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn held at back, knit 2 stitches and pass them over the slipped stitch, repeat from *, end with knit 2 stitches, edge stitch.
Repeat Rows 1 to 4.
Diamond Stitch Pattern: number of stitches divisible by 10 + 2 edge stitches.
Work according to Chart 1, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches.
Begin with 1 edge stitch and the stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with the stitches after the pattern repeat and 1 edge stitch.
Work Rows 1 to 26 once.
Leaf Stitch Pattern: number of stitches divisible by 10 + 1.
Work according to Chart 2, which shows right-side rows only.
On wrong-side rows, purl all stitches and yarn overs.
Begin with the stitches before the pattern repeat, repeat the pattern repeat throughout, end with the stitches after the pattern repeat.
Work Rows 1 to 20 once.
Pattern Sequence: 2 rows Stocking Stitch, 26 rows Diamond Stitch Pattern, 2 rows Stocking Stitch, 2 rows Openwork Stripe, then continue in Stocking Stitch.

Gauge:
Textured Pattern: 18 stitches and 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in);
Diamond Stitch Pattern: 20 stitches and 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in);
Stocking Stitch: 19 stitches and 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).

Back:
Cast on 107 stitches and work 12 cm (4.75 in) = 30 rows in Textured Pattern for the hem, decreasing 15 stitches evenly across the last row = 92 stitches.
Then work in Pattern Sequence, decreasing 4 stitches evenly across the last row of the Diamond Stitch Pattern and decreasing 1 more stitch after the Openwork Stripe = 87 stitches.
After 26 cm (10.25 in) = 70 rows from hem, shape armholes by binding off at both sides in every second row 1 time 3 stitches, 1 time 2 stitches and 2 times 1 stitch.
At the same time, when beginning armholes, work the middle 71 stitches in Leaf Stitch Pattern and the outer stitches in Stocking Stitch.
After completing the Leaf Stitch Pattern, continue in Stocking Stitch over the remaining 73 stitches.
After 42 cm (16.5 in) = 114 rows from hem, shape neckline by binding off the middle 35 stitches and finish both sides separately.
For neckline shaping, bind off at inner edge in every second row 1 time 4 stitches, 1 time 3 stitches, 1 time 2 stitches and 1 time 1 stitch.
After 46 cm (18 in) = 124 rows from hem, bind off remaining 9 shoulder stitches on each side.

Left Front:
Cast on 50 stitches and work 12 cm (4.75 in) = 30 rows in Textured Pattern for the hem, decreasing 8 stitches evenly across the last row = 42 stitches.
Then work in Pattern Sequence, decreasing 2 stitches evenly across the last row of the Diamond Stitch Pattern = 40 stitches.
Shape armhole at right edge as for Back and at the same time work as follows: edge stitch, 6 stitches Stocking Stitch, 31 stitches Leaf Stitch Pattern, 1 stitch Stocking Stitch, edge stitch.
After completing the Leaf Stitch Pattern, continue in Stocking Stitch over the remaining 33 stitches.
After 36 cm (14.25 in) = 98 rows from hem, shape neckline at left edge by binding off in every second row 1 time 8 stitches, 1 time 5 stitches, 1 time 3 stitches, 2 times 2 stitches and 4 times 1 stitch.
Bind off remaining 9 shoulder stitches at same height as Back.

Right Front: Work in mirror image.

Sleeves:
Cast on 68 stitches and work 12 cm (4.75 in) = 30 rows in Textured Pattern for the cuff, decreasing 6 stitches evenly across the last row = 62 stitches.
Then work in Pattern Sequence, decreasing 1 stitch across the last row of the Diamond Stitch Pattern = 61 stitches.
After 15 cm (6 in) = 40 rows from cuff, shape sleeve cap by binding off at both sides in every second row 1 time 3 stitches, 1 time 2 stitches, 1 time 1 stitch, and in every fourth row 6 times 1 stitch, then again in every second row 1 time 1 stitch, 1 time 2 stitches, 1 time 3 stitches, 2 times 4 stitches.
After 30 cm (12 in) = 80 rows from cuff, bind off remaining 9 stitches.

Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.
With circular needles 4.5 mm (UK 7 / US 7), pick up 126 stitches around neckline and work as follows: 1 wrong-side row knit stitches, 2 rows Openwork Stripe, 4 rows Stocking Stitch, 2 rows Openwork Stripe, 2 rows Stocking Stitch.
From the second row of the Openwork Stripe, change to 4 mm needles (UK 8 / US 6).
Bind off all stitches.
Set in sleeves, sew side seams and sleeve seams.
Work 1 row crab stitch (single crochet from left to right) along front edges.
Along edge of right front, make 5 button loops.
For each loop, chain 6 stitches and work 6 single crochet around the chain.
Distribute loops evenly from beginning of Diamond Stitch Pattern to upper edge.
Work around neckline band as follows: * 2 single crochet, 1 picot (chain 3 stitches and slip stitch into first chain), repeat from *.
Work lower edge of cardigan and sleeve edges as follows: 1 single crochet, * 1 picot, 1 single crochet every 1.5 cm (0.6 in), repeat from *.
Sew on buttons.
