Boys' Sweater in Textured Pattern

Size: 100-104 cm (3.3-3.4 feet).

Materials: 

Yarn: 300 g (50% Wool, 50% Acrylic, yardage = 200 m/100 g); 1 pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 4.5 mm (US 7); 6 buttons.

Rib Patt: alt K2, P2.

Textured Pattern: 

Work according to chart. RS and WS rows are shown. 

Rep rows 1-24 throughout.

Garter stitch: Knit on RS and WS rows. 

Gauge:

in Textured Pattern: 22 sts and 29 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

in gst: 19 sts and 31 rows = 10 x 10 сm.

Back: 

With circular needle, cast on 146 sts and work for 10 rnds in Rib Patt. 

Continue in Textured Pattern. 

After 54 rowsfrom rib, divide work in half and complete both sides separately. 

First work back. 

For raglan, dec 1 st 22 times at both ends on every 2nd row by working K2tog after selv st and 2 sts of gst. 

After 44 rows from raglan beg, place rem 30 sts on holder. 

Front:

Work same as back but with slit. 

To do that, after 4 rows from raglan beg, bind off center 16 sts and complete both sides separately. 

After 44 rows from raglan beg, place rem 7 sts on holder.

Sleeves: 

Cast on 38 sts and work 10 rows in Rib Patt. 

Next, work in garter st.

Sleeve Slants: Inc 1 st 11 times on every 5th row each side. 

Raglan Shaping: After 60 rows from rib, bind off 1 st 22 times at both ends on every 2nd row. 

After 44 rows from raglan beg, place rem 16 sts on holder.

Finishing: 

Join raglan and sleeve seams. 

For collar, transfer sts of front, back, and sleeves (= 76 sts) from holder onto circular needle and work as foll: selv st, 1 st in gst, 72 sts in Textured Pattern, 1 st in gst, selv st.

After 24 rows from collar beg, work 2 rows in garter st, then bind off all sts loosely. 

For right band, pick up 50 sts along slit edge, and work 19 rows in Rib Patt. Then bind off sts as they appear. 

Work left band same, but work 3 buttonholes on 4th row as foll: 4 sts, 1 yo, 2 sts tog, 14 sts, 1 yo, 2 sts tog, 14 sts, 1 yo, 2 sts tog, 4 sts. 

On 13th row, work 3 buttonholes same way.

Sew bands to lower edge of slit with overlap.

Sew on buttons.
