Boys' Pullover in Fancy Pattern

Age: (6)8(10) y/o.

Materials:

Yarn: (400)450(450) g (50% Wool, 50% Polyacrylic, yardage = 125 m/50 g); 1 pair quick knit needles size 3.5 and 4.5 mm (US 4 and 7), 4 buttons.

Rib Pattern: K1, P1 Rib.

Fancy Pattern:

Work according to chart. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Gauge: 

22 sts and 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm, with needles size 4.5 mm in Fancy Pattern.

Back:

Using needles size 3.5 mm, cast on (84)88(94) sts and work 4 cm in Rib Patt. 

Cont in Fancy Pattern on 4.5 mm needles. Beg with selv st and sts from arrow (А)B(С). 

When piece measures (25)27(29) cm from cast on, for armhole shaping, at each end bind off 2 sts once and on foll 2nd row 1 st once = (78)82(88) sts.

When piece measures (42)45(48) cm from cast on, at left end bind off (7)8(8) sts once, then (7 sts once, 8 sts once) 8 sts twice (9 sts twice) on every 2nd row.

When piece measures (43)46(49) cm from cast on, bind off 2nd shoulder and, at the same time, for neck shaping, bind off center 12 sts, and then bind off (11)11(12) sts once on either side of them on foll 2nd row.

Front: 

Work like back, but with deeper neckline. 

Neckline Shaping: When piece measures (37)49(43) cm from beg, bind off center 6 sts, then 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts twice, 1 st (2)2(3) times on every 2nd row.

When piece measures (42)45(48) cm from beg, at right end bind off one shoulder, then after (43)46(49) cm from beg at left end bind off 2nd shoulder.

Sleeve: 

Using needles size 3.5 mm, cast on (42)42(44) sts and work 3 cm in Rib Patt.

Cont in Fancy Pattern on 4.5 mm needles. Beg with selv st and sts from arrow (D)D(E). 

Sleeve Shaping: Inc 1 st (2)4(8) times each side every 6th row, then 1 st (13)18(15) times every 4th row = (82)86(90) sts. 

When piece measures (30)34(37.5) cm from cast on, for cap shaping, at each end bind off 1 st once and on every 2nd row 1 st twice. Then bind off rem (76)80(84) sts.

Finishing:

Neck Band: Using 3.5 mm needles, pick up (85)86(88) sts evenly around neck edge and work 3 cm in Rib Patt. 

For left shoulder pad, pick up (35)37(39) sts along back shoulder line again and work 8 rows in Rib Patt. 

Work 2nd part. On Row 3, work 4 buttonholes (bind off 2 sts and cast them on again on foll row).

Work 1st buttonhole at a distance of 2 sts from edge and the rest after (7)3(8) sts.

Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
