Terracotta Sweater with Cable Pattern

Size: M-L

Materials: 

Yarn: 400 g (100% Wool, yardage = 350 m/100 g); one pair quick knit needles size 3 mm (US 2.5) and one circular needle size 2.5 mm (US 1.5).

Basic Pattern: 

Reverse stocking stitch (Rev st st): Work RS rows P and WS rows K.

Rib Pattern: K2, P2 Rib.

Cable Pattern: 

Work acc to сhart. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear. 

Gauge:

in Basic Pattern: 22 sts and 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back: 

Cast on 131 sts and work as foll: 10 sts in Basic Pattern, 48 sts in Cable Pattern (Rows 69-76), 5 sts in Basic Pattern, K6, 5 sts in Basic Pattern, 48 sts in Cable Pattern (Rows 69-76), 10 sts in Basic Pattern. 

Side Slants: When work meas 11 cm, on each side dec 1 st 5 times on every 6th row.

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 43 cm from cast on, bind off 5 sts once, 2 sts twice and 1 st 5 times at each end on every 2nd row. 

Continue even. 

When piece measures 63 cm, bind off all sts.

Front: 

Work like back, but with neckline. 

To do that, after 37 cm from cast on, work in Cable Pattern over center 48 sts beg with 1st row.

Neckline Shaping: After 57 cm from beg, bind off center 12 sts and complete both sides separately.

For rounding at inside edge bind off 4 sts once, 2 sts once and 1 st 3 times on every 2nd row. 

When piece measures 63 cm from cast on, bind off rem sts for shoulders.

Sleeve: 

Cast on 58 sts and work as foll: 5 sts in Basic Pattern, 48 sts in Cable Pattern, 5 sts in Basic Pattern. 

Work 1 row rep. Repeat rows 69-76 throughout. 

Sleeve Shaping: Inc 1 stitch every 6th row 17 times at each end = 92 sts. 

Cap Shaping: At each end bind off 4 sts once, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 14 times, 2 sts 3 times, 4 sts once and rem sts once on every 2nd row.

Finishing: 

Sew shoulder seams.

Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. 

Collar: With WS facing and circular needle, pick up 64 sts evenly around neck edge and work as foll: 

Rows 1-4: Knit.

Row 5: Purl. 

Rows 6-10: Knit. 

Fold band in half to outside and sew in place.

With circular needle, pick up 128 sts evenly along fold row and work 13 cm in Rib Patt, then bind off all sts as they appear.
