Sweater with Lace Cables
Sizes: 16/18 (US 12/14).
Materials:
Yarn: 450 g (75% Cotton, 25% Polyamide, yardage = 110 m/50 g); 1 pair quick knit needles and one circular needle, both size 4.5 mm (US 7).
Rib Patt: K2, P2 Rib.
Reverse stocking stitch (Rev st st): Work RS rows P and WS rows K.
Cable Pattern:
Work according to chart 1. Only RS rows are shown.
On WS rows, work all sts P.
Lace Cable Pattern:
Work according to chart 2. Only RS rows are shown.
On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.
Work rows 1-14 once, then repeat rows 3-14 throughout.
Center Pattern:
Work according to chart 3. Only RS rows are shown.
On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos.
Repeat Rows 1-8 throughout.
Gauge: 18.5 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Back:
Cast on 90 sts and work as foll: selv st, 14 sts in Rev st st, * 6 sts in Cable Pattern, rep from * 9 more times, 14 sts in Rev st st, selv st.
Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 50 cm from beg, at each end bind off 3 sts, then 2 sts once and 1 st once on every 2nd row = 78 sts.
Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 68 cm from beg, bind off center 24 sts and complete both sides separately.
For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 3 sts twice.
When piece measures 70 cm from beg, bind off 21 sts each side for shoulders.
Front:
Cast on 90 sts and work as foll: selv st, 15 sts in Rev st st, 10 sts in Lace Cable Pattern, 6 sts in Cable Pattern, 26 sts in Center Pattern, 6 sts in Cable Pattern, 10 sts in Lace Cable Pattern, 15 sts in Rev st st, selv st.
Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 50 cm from beg, at each end bind off 3 sts, then 2 sts once and 1 st once on every 2nd row = 78 sts.
Neckline Shaping: When piece measures 62 cm from beg, bind off center 12 sts and complete both sides separately.
For rounding at inside edge on every 2nd row bind off 4 sts once, 2 sts 3 times and 1 st twice.
When piece measures 70 cm from beg, bind off 21 sts each side for shoulders.
Sleeves:
Cast on 42 sts and work 10 cm in Rib Patt.
Cont as foll: selv st, 9 sts in Rev st st, 6 sts in Cable Pattern, 10 sts in Lace Cable Pattern, 6 sts in Cable Pattern, 9 sts in Rev st st, selv st.
At the same time, for sleeve slants, inc at each end 1 st in Rev st st 5 times on every 4th row and 10 times on every 6th row = 72 sts.
Cap Shaping: When piece measures 46 cm from beg, at each end bind off 3 sts, and on every 2nd row bind off 2 sts once, 1 st 6 times, 2 sts 3 times, 3 sts twice, 4 sts once and rem 18 sts once.
Finishing:
Close shoulder seams.
Collar: Using circular needle, pick up 90 sts evenly around neck edge and work 15 cm in Rib Patt. Bind off sts loosely.
Sew side seams, sleeve seams and set in sleeves.
