Knot Stitch in Squares Knitting Pattern
How to knit a Knot Stitch in Squares:
Work with a multiple of 24 stitches + 2 + 2 edge stitches.
Cast on 28 stitches (24 + 2 + 2 edge stitches) and work according to chart.
The chart shows only Right Side rows.
On Wrong Side rows, work all stitches as they appear, purl knot stitches.
 
The pattern repeat = 24 stitches wide.
 
Begin with 1 edge stitch, work patt rep throughout, end with 2 stitches after patt rep and 1 edge stitch.
 
Abbreviation:
k: Knit
p: Purl
work knot on 2 sts: p2, then slip these 2 p sts back onto left needle, pass yarn in front of same sts and return yarn to back of work, slip 2 sts back onto right needle (yarn will wrap around sts to make knot). On wrong side row, purl these 2 sts.
 
Written Instructions:
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 (right side): edge st, * p2, work knot on 2 sts 5 times, p2, work knot on 2 sts, k6, work knot on 2 sts *; repeat from * to *; end with p2, edge st.
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (wrong side): work sts as they appear, purl knot sts.
