Chest circumference (buttoned): 40 cm (15¾ in)

Materials:
40 g of light blue 3-ply yarn; knitting needles size 2.5 mm (US 1½ / UK 13)
Garter stitch: Knit in right side and wrong side rows.
Tubular stitch: * K1, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front; repeat from * throughout.
In the following rows, knit the stitches as they appear.
Ribbing Pattern: * K2, P2, repeat from * throughout.
Work stitches as they appear on subsequent rows.
Fantasy stitch:
Row 1: * K1, yarn over, P1, P3tog, P1, yarn over *, repeat from * to *; end with K1.
Row 2 and all even rows: Purl all stitches.
Row 3: Knit all stitches.
Repeat these 4 rows for pattern.
Horizontal stripe stitch:
Rows 1 and 3: knit.
Row 2: purl.
Rows 4 and 6: knit.
Row 5: purl.
Repeat these 6 rows for pattern.
Gauge (Fantasy stitch): 19 sts and 28 rows = 5 × 5 cm (2 × 2 in)
Right Front:
Cast on 66 sts.
Work 6 rows in tubular stitch, then 10 rows in ribbing.
Continue in fantasy stitch, decreasing 1 st at the beginning of every right-side row for neckline shaping.
On row 52 (WS), bind off 4 sts for the armhole.
Continue in fantasy stitch, decreasing at the neckline until 22 sts remain (= 80 rows in fantasy stitch).
Work 18 more rows, increasing 1 st at the neckline edge every 4 rows 4 times.
Bind off loosely.
Left Front: work the same way but mirrored.
Back:
Cast on 80 sts and work the same border as for the fronts.
Continue straight until row 52, then bind off 4 sts on each side for the armholes.
At the same height as the fronts, bind off loosely.
Sleeves:
Cast on 44 sts, work 6 rows in tubular stitch and 14 rows in ribbing.
Continue in fantasy stitch, increasing 1 st on each side every 4 rows.
Work 56 rows total (= 72 sts), then 20 rows without increases.
Bind off loosely.
Ruffle:
Cast on 10 sts: work 3 sts in garter stitch and 7 sts in horizontal stripe stitch as follows:
Row 1: 3 sts in garter stitch, 7 sts in stripe stitch;
Row 2: 7 sts in stripe stitch, turn;
Row 3: 7 sts in stripe stitch;
Row 4: 7 sts in stripe stitch, 3 sts in garter stitch;
Work this sequence for 290 rows. Bind off loosely.
Finishing:
Sew the side seams, leaving one buttonhole open on each side in the ribbing.
Sew shoulder seams.
Sew and attach the sleeves.
Sew the ruffle along the neckline with invisible stitches.
Cut the ribbon into 4 pieces.
Insert ties through the buttonholes and sew them to the inside.
Sew a ribbon bow at the edge of each front.
